So I am kinda undecided right now between the NIH internship or SSP for summer....any thoughts would be appreciated :)

oh btw this is the NIH website:
[NIH Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research](http://www.training.nih.gov/student/sip/)

and this is SSP
[SSP - Summer Science Program](SSP International "The educational experience of a lifetime"...since 1959 An experience of a lifetime since 1959)

Though I got into SSP, but I would loooove to be able to do NIH. I couldn’t apply because I’m not a citizen, but it’s a great opportunity with a focus different from SSP. A senior at my school attended NIH, and he loved it. He’s at JHU now. SSP is a great program but NIH is just too hard to pass.

But of course, I have experienced neither ;)

haha k thanks…

what did you hear about NIH from the person in your school?

SSP…
read over the 71 page (and growing) thread.

SSP. 10char

What subject matter interests you the most?

how do u get chosen for NIH i just submitted and never heard back from them

@2blue: Well I am mostly interested in medicine and biology so that’s why I am kinda leaning towards nih

@collegefreak1: I emailed a couple professors and yeah they gave me a position

hey again, the guy from my school was really interested in biomedical engineering and he did a really interesting project with a professor. I don’t know the details but when I asked he told me it was a great summer.

Being interested in biology is kind of leaning me away from ssp, but I’m still waiting on others!

I heard NIH was amazing! Since you’re interested in medicine, that’s probably the most impressive choice (for future college applications). Congratulations on being selected for the internship!

I heard that nih just received additional federal stimulus money, and more positions may open up at the last minute.

but for NIH you don’t really get a social experience or anything. you have to live by urself right?

Did NIH already contact those who made it? =/

@tomjonesistheman: yeah unfortunately you do have to live by yourself or find someone around there. but i mean you spend the majority of the time at the lab with the professor and the other students so i guess it isn’t that bad…

@xotriish: they didn’t really contact me, i emailed a couple of scientists/mentors and they got back to me

oh. I’d rather go for the experience, so personally I’d say SSP. I’m going to SSP Ojai.
