NJ Governor School '07

It's based on merit. But gov school (science, at least) prides itself on having representation from all counties of New Jersey. Thus, it can be argued that you may have an easier time getting into GS if you live in a more southern county than if you live in a very populous one (i.e. Bergen, Middlesex, Monmouth, etc.).

i live in morris but i go to school in sussex..the letter i got was from the superintendent of the sussex county schools, so i think i'm representing that county, but i'm not sure. i don't know if they send you a letter stating that you haven't gotten in, but they probably won't leave you hanging if that's the case.. maybe a courtesy letter will be sent out.

Courtesy letters - "rejection letters" - are sent out in the same week (or next week) following acceptances. I got accepted to the sciences (2005) a week or so before my friend got rejected from public issues.

Notification of county finalist status (Morris) for GS of Engineering received today!

just throwing it out there...anyone live in union county?

Yes, tunit2190, I live in union county.

I haven't heard back from the eng school yet. And neither has the other nominees for the other schools.

ahh yes, gov school. i applied too, for union county...tunit and sunshinebreeze..which schools did you apply to?

Has anyone heard about going on to the next round for the arts? Specifically film making? I haven' heard anything in central nj.

i applied to international studies...(which i guess is kinda outa line for an azn...since the rest of them went into sciences or the arts...) u?

I applied to the Public Issues one..international studies seems normal for an asian..considering well..we're foreign

I applied to engineering. And am anxiously waiting if I made the first cut.

I think in Union County it's pretty easy to make the cuts

oh i was just reading this thread...and TASP is way more prestigious
but think about it...for TASP you have to write six essays..do an interview..plus its really hard to get into. so gov schools an easier choice

does tasp select more pp than gov school?

idk but think about this: TASP is like RSI..enough said

ah...did u apply to RSI or TASP as well as to gov school?

RSI..but have like 1% chance of getting in..literally

i applied to both TASP and NJ Gov School, actually. TASP was soo much more work... but I'm pretty excited about both.

did anyone else get the county nom for int'l studies? i'm from somerset county.

TASP = 86 kids total

Gov School = around 100 per school, depending on the program, all from nj

i applied to both, but the gov school for the arts takes about 18 kids a year for their visual arts program so i figure there's a tiny tiny chance of me getting into either. if i were in the position to choose between gov school and tasp, it's tasp all the way. unfortunately, i doubt i'll be making that decision. lmao.

nice...yea...i wished i learned of TASP or RSI sooner...i would have definitely applied to those as well...o well...
