Anyone from Middlesex heard yet?

Just to toss in my opinion- Gov school is awesome. I know three kids that went (one for music, two for film) and they all loved it. All they ever talk about when they mention their films/music is how great gov school is.

I would have loved to go, but unfortunately did not get the grades to be nominated. But best of luck to all of you.

I have yet to hear anything from Gov school. Should I just assume a rejection?

I think it's got to do with which division you've been nominated for (arts are not on the same timeline, as far as I can figure), and what county you live in. Some counties have not notified applicants of their status yet.

My D got a letter today saying she is a finalist for film making from Middlesex County. Final interview is on March 25. Good luck to you all! It's a high-stress weekend...the audition for All-state choir is the day before!

I live in middlesex and my school nominated 5 people, one for each individual gov school. They all made the finals!! I'm so proud of them.

middlesex - heard back from gov school of the arts (visual arts) for the portfolio interview.

Monmouth -- visual arts -- rejected. =O

Hey, I'm from Somerset County and I applied for Music in the Arts School and just got my letter today inviting me to the live audition! Just thought others in Somerset County might be interested to know.

just a thought, anyone know if the schools are obliged to take a certain number of students from each county (based on population)? not sure if they would do this...

Yea, or does anyone know how many kids were called for finall auditions> I guess that's depending on your art form. Wonder if there will be 40 fnalists for each slot or just 3 or 5. So, anyone hear anything about that? What amount did they cut in the last one to get to the finalists? don't wanna go see the productions for the speaches and all if the chances are low. because th film program is so small, I wonder if they've whittled it down to 20 that woulfn't be so bad

I recieved an invitation to the final auditions for NJ Gov. School for the Arts. Also, as far as I know my school in Somerset County, has 1 finalist for Bass-Jazz, 1 for Violin, and 1 for Voice (me).

Allright........i'm from union county...and no one from my district has heard back yet. The website for gov school: http://www.nj.gov/govschool/Important-Dates.htm says on there that they were supposed to let us know like at the end of January whether we made the county cut...which clearly didn't happen..Also the final decision letters are "supposed" to be mailed in early April (that's in like 3 weeks)....so to those who went to gov school....how did their process work? thanks

tunit2190,

I live in Union County as well, and like you, have not heard anything about the county cut. I got very frustrated and ended up emailing the director guy for my school. He emailed me back, and told me that I made then county cut for the Engineering school. Maybe you could try that.

Hopefully they'll get us the finalist results on time.

Wow---they really are waiting a long time on this. I feel for you in Union County. Auditions for the arts school are the weekend of the 24-25. How are people supposed to arrange that if they dont' even know yet? Good luck, Union county people!

I'm also from union county going for engineering. we haven't gotten anything back officially, but i e-mailed someone and they told me im a finalist :)

just throwing a question out there...has anyone heard of NJ Scholar (NJSP)? i heard some pp talking about that...

Good luck to all of you who are going for finalist auditions this weekend for the NJ Governors School of the Arts!

Arts auditioners, what did you all think? My D went for film, and felt that the interview went well. It was easy for the film kids, though, because there was no audition. Just a 10 minute interview. We heard, though, that some of the other disciplines' auditions were pretty grueling. How did you all do?
