NJ Prep/Board

Show your parents this study TABS: Truth About Boarding Schools. Go to some Open Houses with them this fall. Most boarding schools will have Open Houses, so look up some of them on Admissions websites. The one at Blair is Oct. 11th Blair Academy - Admission. It is likely that your parents will start to realize the possibilities for you.

Do keep in mind that going to a boarding &/or day school is expensive for all but the wealthiest. Significant sacrifices need to be made by parents to afford it.

You have a high regard for youself has a lax player. SG had an off year, but they are a good program in a very tough league.

What makes you think you're so good?

FUN IS FUN... I am getting a vibe from you that you are feeling that I am overconfident and a thick headed jock. I am more of a scholar than an athlete. I just know that St Georges is not renown for its lacrosse and I have been playing for over seven years so I am experienced. Its not like SG's is Boys Latin, Gilman, or Gtown Prep.

It's "fun is fun".

No, no vibe from me, just a concern that you are a little cocky and don't realize how good NE prep lacrosse can be.

No, SG isn't BL, Gilman or Prep, but who is other than BL, Gilman or Prep?

La Salle, McDonugh, Loyola (MD), West Genny, John Jay, Calvery Hall. I assure you , I am not looking at any of those schools as they are too high caliber. In addition, many are non boarding. To prove it, La Salle is 20 mins away and I have not mentioned it here or plan on it. "fun is fun", please stop flaming and to be quite honest, you seem to be the one with the ego. I simply have asked a question as I am new to these forums and the overall idea of boarding/private schools. Please offer only positive advice, any thing else from you mr. "fun is fun" will be taken only as thoughts from your insecurity.

burb parent, thanks for the open house info. You truely are a big help.

Mburgos -
I don't think f.i.f was trying to flame you, but was trying to be honest. I myself can't follow the logic of your questions exactly. You want to go pre-med at JHU but you'd give up lacrosse (JHU's only serious sport.) You think L-ville is too good, but as f.i.f said you can be on JV. You don't want to apply to schools that are "high caliber" but you are interested in Lawrenceville but put down St George's. I don't really get what you are looking for.

Don't be over sensitive to people on CC, some have been on here for years and are just taking a casual tone. No one is trying to be hurtful.

grejuni,

I have a similar thread on another forum, and forgot to include info that I posted in the other. I appoligize. I have absolutley no intentions of playing lacrosse at the collegite level. I may eventually be able to play at the mid level d1, yet would rather shoot academically for a more renown institution. I love the sport and plan on playing it for Hopkins club team in college. I would also hope to coach it when I am older. Part of liking Hopkins is that every weekend I can have the oppurtunity to watch its games at the beautiful Homewood field would truely be a pleasure.

As far as what I am looking at. I am looking for a school with the best academic reputation as possible that has a mid-level lacrosse program. I would rather that be in the tri state area, yet it seems that there is not as huge selection as I though. As far as the NE area goes, St. Georges has a beautiful campus that seems worth while. Taft has a great campus, I am guessing a great reputation (I believe it is part of the 10 schools organization or something of that sort) and has an upper middle of the road lacrosse team. At least that is my impression of Taft. I could easily be incorrect.

Basically, my origional area of NJ is going to be expanded. Schools in CT could work , and would only extend it for something amazing (st george's campus).

mburgos,

Are you international?

neatoburrito, nope I live in PA. I am sorry if I am giving off a bad vibe in my posts, most have been at a late hour after a busy day. Why did you ask?

anything on blair? i searched and came up with mediocre results.

Did you read this? Blair Academy - Athletics . According to this article, Lawrenceville, Peddie and Hun are among the top 15 lacrosse sports teams in NJ. On the other hand, it looks like the Blair lacrosse team could use a few more strong players.

i didn't actually read much of this thread, just skimmed, but if you're looking for a school with good athletics as well as academics, blair's a good school for that. it has a stellar matriculation, but it's not a cutthroat acceptance rate like deerfield (it's getting lower recently, though), and im not too sure about the athletics so listen to burb parent LOL

burb and westcoast, thanks. That link on lacrosse attracted me, and I appreiete the time taken to search it for me. It seems to be an eager program, and I would enjoy playing for it.

There has to be someone who applied to blair on here, I pm'd someone who goes there.

blair blair blair blair?
