NJ To LSU

My son has been extremely interested in LSU and we as parents are wondering how LSU for students from the North East. I don't imagine he'll have any trouble fitting in anywhere. He is fine going to NYC or going to his grandparents farm shooting guns and riding 4 wheelers. We wanted to know the issues with transportation getting back and forth from home. Getting his living items there.

It’s fine. There are no transportation issues. Getting his living items there works like any other move.

my daughter goes to lsu. we are from westchester. there is no direct flight to baton rouge. you always have to connect in either atlanta or north carolina. so that is a pain. most tickets out of laguardia are like 300 - 400 dollars round trip.

she sent big boxes down there ahead of time with a lot of her stuff, the dorm kept the boxes in their office .

she is now a sophomore, but as a freshman she lived with 3 other girls in a room. stuffed in llike sardines. she lived in herget.

it says there is air conditioning, but it did not work most of her freshman year. she had a fan though

in the colder season (end of november to early dec), the heat didnt work either. she told me her lips were blue while studying. the nice people there told her to go to walmart and get a space heater.

if you have any questions i will be happy to answer…or will forward to my daughter.

it is a big deal going to lsu if you are from the northeast. there are very few northeasterns at lsu. unlike tulane, that has a bunch of us northerners.

my dd had a rocky first year. as a soph she rushed and got into a sorority and that helped her a lot

your son may want to consider rushing… it definitely expands the social sphere for them

The response is appreciated, he is still indicating this is where he wants to go. We are going for a visit in october and catch a football game. I just wanted to see if there was more dislike than normal for Northerners. He does well making friends in new places and want to be informed as much as possible. NJ hasn’t looked so well in the media lately jerseyshore for one. Looking forward to the trip. Our biggest worry seems to be logistics. I assume she didn’t have a car on campus, was that an issue. Do a lot of the students go home on weekends?
