<p>Selection:
This award is offered to the Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition sponsored by the National Merit Corporation. Finalists must declare the UA as their first school of choice with the National Merit Corporation per the deadline set by the National Merit Corporation.</p>

<p>BTW… It’s helpful if people provide the links to whatever NMF scholarships they add so that the amounts can be verified. Since amounts change all the time, a previous year’s award may be very different now (or not exist at all).</p>

<p>I received an email from Univ. of Arizona admissions saying the amount of the scholarship will remain the same next year, however they are still deciding on what criteria they will use for the scholarship in the future.</p>

<p>My son got a letter from the University of Central Florida today promising him tuition, room and board if he goes from NMSF to NMF…and a free cleaning service once a week if he lives in the honors dorm.</p>

<p>What’s the deal for OOS NMF at Texas A&M? Obviously, if an OOS NMF has to pay OOS tuition, then the above isn’t much help. BUT, I’ve heard that OOS students that receive a scholarship from Texas A&M then also get to pay the lower instate rate. Is that true. If so, then the NMF scholarship for OOS is quite good.</p>

<p>Texas Tech’s NMF scholarship seems to have improved since it was first added to this list. This page:</p>

<p>says it’s $12,000 plus $7,800 toward room and board. That amounts to more than the total cost of attendance for an in-state student, and just $3,795 short of tuition, room, and board for an out-of-state student.</p>

<p>where did you find the COA for OOS? The info that I found says the COA for OOS is $28k per year and that was for 2008 year…so I imagine it’s higher now and will be higher next year.</p>

<p>BTW…for all scholarships, people need to keep in mind that when an amount is set forth (rather than a statement of full tuition or full housing), a person has to realize that the current COA on a website is for the current year, and will be increased each of the 4 undergrad years.</p>

<p>The scholarships total $19,800.</p>

<p>I got my figures from College Board. The total in-state cost of attendance (including books and incidentals) adds up to $19,238, so actually the scholarships are just shy of the total cost if you’re in-state.</p>

<p>The out-of-state figures are $23,322 for tuition, room, and board, and $27,548 total for all costs, so it looks like our figures are about the same.</p>

<p>Some schools have a policy that full-tuition or full-ride scholarships increase along with rising costs, and some don’t. I’ve seen the policy posted on some schools’ websites, but usually not, and in either case it’s worth a phone call to make sure.</p>

<p>From what I’ve found…if the scholarship says “tuition for 4 years,” or “50% of tuition for four years”, then the amount goes up each year. BUT…it it’s a set amount, like $15,000 towards tuiton (which may be 50% at that moment), that amount doesn’t rise as tuition goes up.</p>

You could probably create a service with this kind of research… That said, my daughter is a NMSF and a National Hispanic Rec Prog Scholar and your listings are pretty much right on target with what we have been receiving. Money is an issue for us - so the offers are VERY influential. My high school sends a ton of students to WSU, and most of the people I know love it there. If you are interested in a largish school in a rural college-town environment, WSU might be worth a look. They have top programs in architecture, advertising, civil engineering, communications, and pre-vet (among others).</p>
