NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

@Huskymaniac - I like that MN prediction!

By the way, if I am correct, my son misses by 1 point.

And that leads me to an interesting story. When he was doing practice tests, he was coming up short on time on the math section sometimes. My suggestion to him was to do the non-multiple-choice questions first so that, if he had to guess at the end, he would be guessing on multiple choice questions. Well, the test proctor saw him go to those questions first and thought he was going to a different section and started harassing him about cheating. He tried to quickly and quietly explain what he was doing but she didn’t get it. It ended up distracting him and costing him a lot of time. Did it cost him a NMS? Who knows.

@LMHS73, have you visited UTD yet? Sorry if you already posted that, I just can’t remember. It’s definitely a unique vibe that is perfect for some kids (like my S and @3scoutsmom’s S) and not a fit for others (like @DavidPuddy’s S or @DiotimaDM’s S). Definitely visit if you haven’t, and be sure to set it up through the NM contact so you have a much more personalized visit.

@Huskymaniac
On what basis do you predict any specific state to decrease over last year?

Quoted for truth. Do NOT visit without making definite contact with someone specifically from the NM Scholarships office. Do NOT rely on a regular guidance counselor or tour contact.

I like your NJ prediction.

@Huskymaniac , that is awful!! I really hope your son makes it!

@amyandscott Hey, I know your S is in AL. I just got back from school and I really don’t want to search through all the posts since yesterday. Did your S hear anything today? I’m 217 and my GC hasn’t said anything! I’m super nervous!

DS is 221 and we’re in TX. I’m not telling him I found this forum.

@CTMorris1999 I’m in AL too. AL is confirmed at 216 so your child is good! Congrats!!

AL’s cutoff is 216. You should be Ok

@ElVaquero @bama2000 Thanks guys!!

“This is a BIG deal to our family because money I’m going to sit on this news until DS is alerted at school. I’ll let him “surprise” us with the news at home.”

@GoAskDad , you are the cutest! >:D< I wish DD didn’t know I was on this forum. I love that your DS will be able to “surprise” you at home. :x

@traveler98; @DavidPuddy - thanks, she’s interested in the actuarial sciences & we haven’t visited yet - although we’ve read tons of the trip reports that all of you fine folks have submitted. She’s also been online a lot looking at the school.

After NMSF results are out, we DEFINATELY plan on visiting & we’ll make sure to arrange that through the NM office.

Although she’s an athlete (no plans on pursuing that in college), she’s also a very proud “nerd” and already feels those nerdy vibes emanating from her laptop screen when she visits the UTD site.

Hopefully, she’ll get that same feeling when we visit the campus in person!!

@Huskymanic - I hope your son makes it. You gave him good advice…I’m sorry the proctor gave him grief about it.

Oh, and if your Iowa prediction is right, it will make my day. (My son is sitting on a 215 - we’re expecting to miss it by one, too.) I hope you’re a big-time statistics expert who predicted that number perfectly! Fingers crossed…

@LMHS73 , I recall you talking about Actuarial Science. I can’t wait to her about the trip report to UTD after this NMSF dust settles! It might be just the place for her.

@Huskymaniac you are right about AL!

Any PA lurkers out there???

@CTMorris1999 congrats!

If anyone has heard from Ohio, please let me know! Thanks :slight_smile:
