NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

Hey y’all, homeschooled semifinalist here, just FYI the essay prompt is the same as last year. Describe meaningful experience, person, obstacle, etc. we have till December to confirm SAT

anyone know the Ohio cutoff?

DD got a 219 so we are a ledge sitter I think

In NJ, 223 S made it, 219 S did not

Welcome to the Ledge, @shelleee !!!

A pleasant good morning to my fine family of the ledge!

May the news be plentiful and the cutoffs be low. :slight_smile:

Thanks for the prompt @precisionparadox . Does anyone have time to write it out in full?
I’ll add my info as well- son is at 224 in NY, so today is not so stressful, but his grades are borderline so I’ll be biting my nails in January! Our school doesn’t start until Sept 7 (!) and he is a slow writer, so thanks again for the prompt. Good luck to all!

@precisionparadox thank you so much for the essay prompt info! S is stuck at home for the next week so he can get a good start on his essay with all this downtime.

Here’s the full essay prompt:

To help the reviewers get to know you, describe an experience you have had, a person who has influenced you, or an obstacle you have overcome. Explain why this is meaningful to you. Use your own words and limit your response to the space provided.

Amen @DiotimaDM !

Thanks, good to know. Most students will be able to repurpose one of their application essays.

Anyone know where that thread is that lists the state scores as they come in? I would like to snoop!

Sounds like the Common App essay could be revised to fit that.

How long is the NMF essay supposed to be?

For @FSUdad93

Per a comment at Art’s, 216 made it in AR.

Here it is

@FSUdad93, not sure if you meant the CC thread or “Art’s blog” as we have all affectionately been referring to it. The cc thread link is above, and “Art’s blog” is the blog for the test prep company Compass Prep. We can’t link to it because that’s against CC terms of service, but just google Compass Prep, and then click on the blog. The entry of interest is right at the top of the blog page.

Okay, Thanks. Here is what they had.

AL = 216
AR =216?
FL <=219
IA <=223
ID = 216 (principal)
KS <= 219
MO <= 219
MN <=222
NE <=218
NJ <= 223
NV = 217 per principal
TX <= 221
VA > 221
VT <= 218

Is it me or is this an alarmingly small amount of info for those of us on the ledge or even just on the edge of our seats? Even among the states that have reported, some of those numbers don’t tell us a ton of info. X_X Patience is a virtue, right?
