NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

Patience may be a virtue, but it is hard! Still waiting to hear about Colorado.

Art says my State’s expected is 214. I am frequenting this site quite often with a S with a 221. Not sure why we panic but we do until we see the numbers. Then we will do it again this spring. I feel for you ledgers. I hope all goes well. I keep giving my S Hell! Every time he walks into the room. He took the SAT Saturday and said it was easy and he knew all the answers. “What score do you think you got?” Over and over, the same question. He originally said it felt like a 1600 so I have a long 3 weeks. This mornings answer was 1580. Lets hope.

Don’t worry Kayak24, I bet there will be a lot more info as the mail arrives later in the afternoon.

Well, we have some info on just over a quarter of the states. For me, the most promising details are VA at something higher than 221, and NJ at 223. VA tends to ride a point below the top states, and it tends to track together with CA. This strongly suggests that both CA and VA will be confirmed at 222.

NJ also suggests that anyone with a 223 or higher is safe, so I’m excited, but my stress level is fairly low.

Art has info about California

Is Florida a done deal?? I am seeing 219 on Art’s site.

Woo hoo!! S made it, and I’m blubbering like a baby. :x ^:)^ :(( 8-} B-)

@GertrudeMcFuzz and @sewin2music - We have a report that 222 in CA is safe.

Art says CA is <=222!!! I made it!!!

My son made it in Colorado with 221. Yay! So excited!!

@Surfer4 yes Florida a done deal, any time you see = without a < or > it’s a none cut off.

OMG!!! D actually pulled it off. Wow, what great news!! Now we have to plan more trips!

Congrats to those on the West Coast

I’m letting S find out at school. If they don’t tell him by Friday, I’ll let him know.

so NM says in the letter that the info is confidential until the official press release. Does this mean I can’t put it on my app if I’m filling out applications now?

Congratulations to all those kiddos who made it <:-P

Does anyone know what year the PSAT/NMF program began? A relative said she was a finalist in the early 1970s. I had no idea it was that old! Did our parents take the PSAT?? (in the 1950s?)

According to Wikipedia, NM started in 1955 although the PSAT didn’t start until 1971.

My husband was a National Merit Scholar in the 70s. Back then he got a full ride to UT Austin. They really don’t give much of anything, now. Not sure how old it is, though.

218 in Colorado didn’t make it - from GC to my daughter. :frowning:

wow! colorado went up significantly then!
