NMSF notifications to college...have you heard from any colleges?

I started a thread in another forum, but not having much luck with responses.

Students that will probably qualify for NMSF had an opportunity to have 2 colleges notified of their status by May 1 of last year. Presumably to generate interest in the student from the colleges.

My son has heard from one college last week, but not the other. Parents, are the students typically contacted by their chosen schools? Or does it just depend on the schools involved.

The one college sent a few pages of opportunities for scholarships and programs open to National Merit Finalists; it was a nice thing to receive; good info.

Anyone else heard? Or expect to hear?

I sent mine to USC and Northwestern. I've heard from USC, but it sent me letters even before I marked it on the National Merit Form. I haven't heard from Northwestern yet.

Rice U emailed d about 2 weeks ago, waived the application fee :) and started an admissions file on her because she had indicated Rice as one of her 2 options. She was impressed and pleased with the email.

Trinity U emails and sends snail mail info regularly, but she visited twice and has let them know directly of her interest. So I can't say if the contact stems from the visits or because of any NM notification.

D visited one last week, and has an overnight at the other in a couple of weeks, but was already on the radar at both places, so she did not receive anything special after the letter was sent. Told her to mention it in the interviews though to make sure they received the letter...

D received a token letter from one of the 2 colleges notified, but received a flood of mail from other colleges. As I recall, Texas A&M sent her something a week before she was officially notified.

S2 also got the email from Rice saying they would waive the application fee.

Really want Rice to "show well" so I'm scheduling the visit for October so we're past the summer heat. Could be the ideal place for him.

Haven't heard from the other college indicated.
