My school doesn't offer an AP chem class, but I would like to be able to take the Chemistry SAT II test. I'm currently in a two trimester chemistry honors class right now and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take the test after I finish the class. Is the Chemistry SAT II test way more advanced than chemistry honors curriculum, or will I be fine as long as I study a bit more in depth with a Chemistry SAT II prep book? Also, any recommendations for prep books?

Honors classes vary, so it probably depends on how good your school is and how seriously they take honors. Do you have a syllabus for the year? One way to tell is to look at the items on the syllabus and see how well they correspond to the topics on the test.

We do not have a syllabus for the year. Should I ask my teacher about what topics we’re studying ?

My advice: Don’t take the Chem SAT II if you’re unsure of how well you will do on it. Rather, take something you are fairly confident you will excel at.
