OKAY. I came to this situation, where I can't take any APs.
I have 3.3 GPA, and had plenty of AP opportunities, but was "persuaded" by mom that I should take the easy way: not to take any AP and get 4.0 GPA this upcoming junior year.
but what I have realized was that I was only one who is doing this among my friend...

So I e-mailed my couselor, asking her would it be okay to change my schedule.
Obviously, her answer was "no, the registration for the new schedule has ended."

at this moment, I'm really panicking and depressed that I'll be compared with many of my friends and will be in "lower" classes than them.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I'm planning on either
1. go to city college to take AP subjects (I'm not sure about it, beacuse my school also offers the same subjects as well.)
2. e-mail/go meet counselor with my parents.
3.go to AP institute and spend like 2000 dollars there to take a AP test and study for it.

2 and if need be, 1. My school ends registration in January (of the previous year) and many manage to change classes within the last few days of summer.

Don’t Panic.

First day of class, talk to the teachers – ask if there is room in the class. Even if it’s technically full, often a teacher will make an exception and allow an additional student who asks. (BTW – this sometimes works for closed out courses in college too). This will give you ammunition if the GC doesn’t want to make the change.

Don’t Panic.

Have your parents make an appointment for you with your GC. If your GC won’t help, point out that you’ve already spoken to the teacher who has told you that there IS room in the class.

Don’t Panic.

If this doesn’t work, have your parents go up the chain - speak to the principal. Here’s the great thing about parents – we can be very pushy and no one holds it against you. We pay taxes and vote, and can raise a stink. They really want to help us if they can – well, most of the time, anyway. They’re less likely to blow us off.

Don’t Panic.

Recognize that some classes may really be full up. Check back in a week, in case someone has dropped.

In case I haven’t mentioned this before – DON’T PANIC. Taking AP courses is better, but, its not the end of the world insofar as college admissions. Do the best you can. Get the best grades you can. Take APs your senior year. You’ll go to a good school no matter what.

oh oh oh would taking no AP would effect me alot for my college app?
becuase I heard that colleges look at your soph and junior year the most, and see if you have improved…
just in case, all these plans don’t work… just in case…
because I wanna know if I have to take like 4 APs during my senior year to back them up. (I haven’t take any AP classes before)

Perhaps there is a possibility that albeit you weren’t taking any AP classes, you were taking Honors classes that were University of California certified? Meaning, these UC certified courses will still give you one point extra toward your UC GPA? I am only addressing UC schools now.

There’s a great website UC puts out through “doorways” that can help you check if the class you took/are taking will count toward a “weighted GPA”, and are not AP classes.
