No articulation for "desired" Discrete Structures course

Hi everyone! I’m planning on applying to Cal Poly SLO later this year for transfer in Fall 2017 from Chaffey College, for Computer Engineering.

My GPA is currently 3.89 and I’m on track to complete all the required support courses, but after reading here of transfer applicants with excellent stats getting rejected, I believe I ought to try to take every course listed on the transfer criteria page, both required and desired, to maximize my chance of acceptance:
http://admissions.calpoly.edu/applicants/transfer/criteria1516/cpea.html

But one of the desired courses, CSC 141 - Discrete Structures I, doesn’t appear to articulate from any of the ~150 California colleges listed on assist.org. Yes, I checked every single one! Since most, including Chaffey, also lack circuit analysis and programming, I’m going to have to find another community college anyway.

Chaffey does offer Discrete Mathematics, with a very similar description, and I imagine many other colleges have something similar as well, but none articulate to SLO’s Discrete Structures. Any suggestions?

If no school offers it, no one will have an advantage over you.

I’d call admission though just to be safe, as I do believe, like you do, that the best way to help your admissions success is to have a high GPA, which you do, and take as many of the recommended courses as you can. Ask what, if anything, they’d recommend.

Good luck!

I believe CSC 141 Discrete Structures is no longer offered and has been delisted. It is now an upper division class. Please call the department to confirm. They can tell you what to do next.

@eyemgh: Thanks! I’ll ask them also.

@eduparent: Thanks for pointing that out. I do see now that on previous years’ articulation lists, at least some colleges have courses that articulated with Discrete Structures. So the change of division explains why they don’t anymore.
