I'll be applying to Berkeley this fall and although I have a great competitive GPA and many ECs, Awards, Volunteer work etc... I feel as though it won't be enough.
I am a low income student and I am a minority as well (Armenian).
I JUST found out about TAP (and the mentorship program) and I really want to join... is it too late? :(
Without it, will I be at a great disadvantage?
Thanks to all in advance.
Also, congrats to all of you for your acceptances! It must be a wonderful feeling :)

If you’re applying this November, I’m 90% sure it’s too late. They should start personal statement workshops soon and you’ve missed practically a year of mandatory workshops, but what’s the harm in asking? Go to your community college and ask Aileen parungao about the program (make an appointment with your community college transfer department) she’s amazing and super nice, so even if you don’t get admitted, you can still get some helpful advice about applying to Berkeley.

Without tap, you are technically at a disadvantage (85% acceptance rate compared to the regular 20% rate for non tap) but if you have a great gpa and personal statement, you’re good to go! Keep in mind impacted majors are harder to get admitted to.

Depending on the school that you’re going to, Aileen is still recruiting TAP applicants up until the 22nd of May. This is for El Camino though. So I would say that you do still have a chance being TAP’d by UC Berkley. Just figure out if she is still visiting your campus and make an appointment with her.

Even though you might have missed a bit of time and opportunity for counseling, if it is still open to join, then go for it. It will look good on your uc app.
