Hey all,
I'm doing research about the TAP program offered at UC Berkeley. I'm really interested and I think it will help me a lot. The program states it helps low income first generation students. I am the first generation to go to college but I am NOT low income. I also attend one of the community college mentioned. I feel as if this is a GREAT opportunity for me. I was wondering if anyone has the specific criteria I might need to be a member of this program. I'm currently a senior in high school.

Please take a moment out of your day to reply, I'll greatly appreciate it.

I advise you to find out if the community college you intend to go to has a UC Berkeley TAP program. If so, inquire about its requirements to the Berkeley TAP representative. That’s the only advice I have. Sorry, I don’t know much about the program myself.

Okay, I’ll try that. I think I’m going to plead how my parents did not have the opportunity to go to college and how they made a life for me that I’m trying to take advantage of. I am first generation so that will help me out. My only concern in this case is that I’m not a URM. I’m Iranian American. I’m also not low income.

I am in the TAP program myself. From my understanding, you just have to qualify for one of the 3 to be in the program: 1) Minority 2) Low income 3) 1st Gen. (I’m only 2 & 3) From what i have read on CC before they say that you need to be invited. But I actually specifically asked about it when my TAP coordinator drop my community college, and got in during my spring semester.
