So basically I have no experience in chemistry (honors chem a year ago but I had a horrible teacher so I learned nothing) and I'm looking to take the chemistry subject test in October. Right now I am studying straight from Barron's. I'm on chapter 5 out of 15 and it hasn't been that difficult so far. Is it possible for me to score a 750+ just from studying Barron's? Should I cross reference with PR or textbooks? Oh and I'll have a month of ap chem under my belt before the test lol.

You must have learned something in that year? If you do alright on Barron’s though, you should be okay for the test for the most part. Just make sure you thoroughly study the stuff that you never reviewed in class, as you’ll probably forget the new information first.

ok and ya I guess I did learn some stuff but that class was a joke and plus it was a year ago so I pretty much forget what little I learned

SATII Chemistry is perhaps the most difficult test in terms of breadth — the exam covers material that extends far beyond your general chemistry course. Many students struggle to break the 750+ barrier, even after mastering AP Chemistry material.

I would definitely encourage you to study from the Barron’s guide (it’s an excellent resource). The worst case scenario is that you will be well-prepared for your AP Chemistry course. It’s good review, even if you don’t do well on the subject test.

Hi I’m in a similar situation where I have taken honors chem but had a terrible teacher and while I learned some, our class didn’t touch on many concepts. I tried learning out of Barron’s but I’m getting confused on some topics and the highest I’ve been scoring was a 580-610 on the Barron’s … Is there any way I can get near 800 with a few more this of practice? I’m thinking about getting the zumdahl textbook. Would that be helpful at all? I also have the PR.
