I am curious as to what happens if your CC does not offer a course comparable to one at a UC and you still want to submit a TAG application. I know that many major prereq classes are tough to find at some CCs. If a few classes are not available at a CC that I need to transfer into my major at UCI how will this affect my TAG application? Will it be denied? I will finish the calculus sequence and probably have one year of physics under my belt by the time I plan to transfer (Fall 2014) but there are a few classes for CS and Software Engineering that are not available at my CC or any of the CCs close to me. I have heard of people transferring out without some major prereqs completed because those classes are tough to find at almost any CC, but is it possible to do that if you plan on having guaranteed admission? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I don’t think it should affect your TAG, but your best bet is to call/email admissions and ask.

I think you’ll be okay. I got into Irvine last year (went to UCB for EECS instead), and double checking UCI requirements, I probably would’ve only had Intro to CS 1&2, Calculus, Linear, and Physics articulate. That was just normal admissions, not TAG, but I wouldn’t worry too much about missing courses, unless your basic CS classes won’t transfer.
