No desire for my major but already accepted

Accepted anthropology major at Berkeley for Spring 2013, but I'm now realizing I don't really want to major in Anthro. Has anyone heard of someone changing their major as a transfer?

If I understand correctly, and I very well may be completely wrong, that you were accepted into the School of Letters and Sciences so once you are at Berkeley you could switch to a major in L&S.

UCBhopeful16 is right. You can change your major at Berkeley if you meet all the requirements.

Yup, you are just admitted to L&S so you would have to petition to declare Anthro your first semester anyway, you can just declare something else. But your new major has to be in L&S, you can’t try to transfer into Haas or something else. Though maybe one of the other schools that isn’t as impacted might let you transfer in.

Thanks guys,
Thinking of transferring into CNR, Society and Enviornment sounds more appealing than straight Anthro.

The good thing for you is that there are several majors that don’t demand that you have any prerequisites finished by the time you get there (mainly b/c they’re not available at community colleges).

If you’re positive you don’t want to study anthropology, it would probably be a good idea to do some research and have at least 2-3 programs that you’d be happy taking (in case your first choice doesn’t work out).
