no email?

American is most likely a no for me, not just for the reason I haven’t gotten an email yet. I’m on the… low end of the spectrum I would probably say (45% chance estimated on college data). I know those chance estimations don’t mean anything, but seeing as I got waitlisted for hampshire… it makes me nervous to say the least. Good luck everyone :)

I read last year’s acceptance thread and they all got an email the same day saying good news was coming from AU.
Also to the person who said they called, are you sure they weren’t talking about letters through snail mail?

the question is, did anyone get rejected by email?

Some times AU doesn’t send emails to people; I only received my letter when I got two years ago, so have hope guys! its not over till you get a little white envelope beginning with “We regret to inform you”

Alamo1836 just out of curiosity what email provider do you use? I have been super paranoid about my gmail because the filter is super sensitive - i have been checking like a maniac anyhow… but just because I am curious.

hey everyone,
i just got my acceptance through the mail but never received an email. so no worries to anyone who didn’t end up getting an email.

@davidsjudo
so you didn’t get an email, but did you get honors/a scholarship/a hefty FA?

nope. i got a little financial aid and no merit aid–i am going to call the financial aid office to check on that though.

My other daughter got what looks like an acceptance envelope in the mail and no email. Her sister got both and a phone call…who’s to figure how they do things.

My daughter received an email about 10:30 on Wed. night and the package came in the mail today. It seems they were sending them out in batches. However, I am completely flabbergasted and disappointed that it appears she did not receive any merit scholarships whatsoever. She was accepted into the University Scholars program (is that right?). Not sure how prestigious that is, but I recall them talking about it on our tour. And at the end of her junior year, she was number 4 in her class! So I am a bit confused. I assume the scholarships are sent with the packet. She did receive a grant, but I think that is based on need. Oh well. AU is so expensive, I’m not sure we can hack it! We are waiting to hear from her first choice (William and Mary), but that’s not coming until the end of the month. By the way, I graduated from AU (and it is a terrific school) in 1981. My first years bill for tuition and room and board (1977/78) was $6000.00. I found it in my parent’s home.

I suppose like the other poster, I will call on Monday. Sigh.

I haven’t heard anything yet… but i’ve never seen notifications from a school being sooooo random! email, phone calls, snail mail? I don’t know where to check anymore!

QUOTE: @gma1 oh i’m sorry I just assumed from this:
Step 1 - AU account creation
In this step, you will be asked to supply the following information:

American University (AU) ID (from your acceptance packet)

<a href=“Sign In”>Sign In;

that you had to wait for your package END QUOTE

If you click on this link, it will bring you to the page to create an AU account. Your AU account number (or at least AN account number which is the right number of digits for the form) is on the bottom of any emails that you get from AU - including the mass email we all got a couple of weeks ago. It wouldn’t let me create an account, so I’m guessing I’m not in, but it might work for some of you.

No, ID begins with the letters of your name and finishes with a or b

I have twins and one daughter got an email, phone call and packet 3 days ago, another got nothing but today got her packet. In it was just the acceptance, no FA page like her sister, no loans, nothing, and she is higher in stats etc. Very peculiar, if we thought we had a chance of going, I’d call the office, but even if the packages were identical, it’s still a little pricey for us.

gma - Thanks for the info in the ID. I guess now I just have to wait!!

i never got an email but i got the american acceptance packet today.
so no worries!! the email was just sent to a certain amount of people but not everyone.

^^^ did you get a scholarship? a lot of FA?

D got an email on Thursday 3/10 then a big blue packet yesterday with FA and scholarship info. She is majoring in musical theatre. 6 other kids in her hs class got emails, but some kids with comparable stats have not received anything yet so hang in there.

I wish the mail would come on sunday. :[ i got the email, but a lot of people seem to be getting their packages already.

I was awarded a little FA something like $5,000 but honestly I am not a contender for serious financial aid. If you are wondering whether or not people who are being awarded financial and merit aid are hearing first I know that all the people at my school who received the email had applied for financial and merit awards. I did neither, just submitted my FASFA and stuff. Don’t worry - this all seems to be very very random! One of my good friends got the email really early and not only does she go to my school, she lives blocks away, we have the same course load etc.

Monday is a new day!! good luck!!
