I'm a rising Junior and here are my English courses by year:

9th: Advanced Composition Honors, English I Honors
10th: English II Honors
Summer: English III Honors (Appears as Junior year on transcript)
11th: AP English Literature
Summer: English IV Honors (Appears as Senior year on transcript)

I'm planning to apply to questbridge but if I'm not accepted to that, I'm probably going to just apply to my flagship, another instate school, and UChicago. If I get credit at my community college via CLEP or AP scores and finish the gen ed core, all instate schools (Including my flagship which is a top 30 school) must accept the same credit the community college gave me, regardless of their policies and furthermore exempt me from all lower level gen ed classes (all gen ed classes but ~9 hours). I need a literature class to fulfill my gen ed requirements.

Here are my choices: Take English online with a state school ($400), take it with the only "real" college near me ($1000), take a CLEP literature exam for credit ($72, 6 CHS). (I am not allowed to take English classes at any community college. 0.o)

My senior schedule is planned out with the counselor to be:

BIO 111: General Biology I
PSC 100: American Politics
MAT 273: Calculus III
PHY 251: General Physics I (Calc-based)

15 hours

CIS 110: Introduction to Computers
ESS 220: Physical Fitness for Life
MAT 285: Differential Equations
PHY 252: General Physics II (Calc-based)
Speech and Debate Honors

14 hours
+
PSY 150: General Psychology (By CLEP exam)
ENG 231/232: American Literature I/II (By CLEP exam)

Should I take the CLEP exam and put down ENG 231: American Literature I (By exam) and ENG 232: American Literature II (By exam) on my senior schedule for applications? I really don't want to be taking any more courses with so many math/science courses. I guess Speech and Debate is an English elective but I assume adcoms are looking for "core" English ever year.

Oh, and is my schedule rigorous enough? It doesn't looks like much compared to most CCers. :(
