I have not received information about the interview. I live in South Dakota so I think there might not be an alumni here. Is anybody in same situation as I am?

Daughter received a card stating whom the interviewer was and she'd be contacted IF the interviewer was available. Nothing else. Not sure what is worse....no news at all or a teaser without the interview. She did have interviews with Cornell, Yale, and Princeton.

Nothing for my kid either.... he did have Northwestern, Princeton and Harvard

why do you people stress out so much about interviews???? sure it MAY help, but then again it may not.

i just asked literally 9 kids on my floor, all cc, that didnt get interviews and they're here now!

no stress here - actually I was just reporting - obviously they don't do too many of them....

I live in a very affluent suburb of New York, got Harvard/Brandeis/Brown interviews, no interview here either. I called the admissions office and they said that interviews were "very random" and not selective. So... chill. I'm actually kind of pleased I don't have to do an interview! I've heard horror stories about our local interviewer, so.

Yeah I really don't understand what all the fuss about interviews is over. It's not the applicant's fault if he/she does not get contacted for interviews. It only looks bad if you were offered interview and declined.

No interview for my son as well , not even from cornell??

I was never contacted for an interview either. I'd be surprised if there weren't any Columbia alumni in my area (I live in a pretty major suburb).

Oh well...I guess they can't be that important because I did get a likely letter.

I have a feeling that out of all the Ivies, Columbia does the fewest interviews... I guess that they think it's an important part of the application, so don't sweat it guys... btw, I didn't get one, either

I didn't think that i would get one either, until out of the blue, I get this email from a lawyer requesting an interview immediately(next day or two), and he said he had a deadline of 2/15/07. I went and I think it is more selective than what people are led to believe, and it is not always for something good about you.
My interview consisted of questions about my age and maturity. I will be a 15 year old college freshman. So, for those of you who did not get one, I wouldn't worry too much.
My interview lasted an hour, and he recommended me...all good.

Should we have interview gasp I thought it was optional??? I didn't even here about any interivew... OMG... is this a bad sign?

I was never contacted about one.

No interview, and I live in CT, about an hour and a half away. You would think there would be alumni in the area, but according to my friend who goes to Columbia, there are none. So it's pretty much dependent on whether or not there are alumni around. Apparently, no one's willing to move to boring old CT. :)

Interviews are definitely overrated. I had an interview for Columbia. However, had no interview for Duke but received a likely letter (top 350 applicants). It really is a very small portion of your overall application and shouldn't be stressed about.

Don't stress out about it, it probably won't affect you a lot since you're from South Dakota. I wonder how many people apply from that state.

No interview here either ! I dont know what it means . I did not have an interview for cornell but got a likely letter , who knows??????????????????

I didn't have a Cornell interview, either.
