Is This True That The Class Of 2009 Will Not Be Getting Ipods If Accepted To Duke?
Please Say No

I will say that if u wanna goto duke for the ipod u need a life... lol

i dont think they have decided

i doubt it. the reason they gave the class of 2008 ipods is probably to attract as many new candiddates for the class of 2009 9. but i didnt even know about the 2008 class getting ipods until after i applied, so i dont care either way...

If iPods attract people to a school than they should really reconsider...

4 Years at Duke = $160,000
iPod = $300-$500 (?)

Hm.....maybe just buy an iPod...at least if it's that important to you...

like i said...i really dont care if the class of 2009 does get them (though i have to get accepted first). but in the defense of those who seem upset by not getting one, i dont think they applied just for that. i mean, its sad (and stupid) if you did. but if not, then its a matter of getting accepted and going to duke OR getting accepted, going, and getting a "free" ipod.

btw, the ipods really aren't free. they probably figure it in to the tuition somehow, though not much. it's like those colleges that give you "free" laptops when its technically part of what your paying...

actually they were paid for by a grant/university funds that the university already had, so no money from our tuition is actually set aside for the ipods. but you are correct if you mean that we have to pay so much anyways that they might as well be part of the tuition, or something like that.

i think it's okay to be disappointed a bit (but sad or upset? come on...) that you're not getting ipods, but the university was clear from the very beginning that they were planned to be a one time thing for the sake of the "experiment."

oh i see...

i mean think about it...you're paying thousands of dollars a year at duke and youre (not directed toward anyone specific) p.i.s.s.e.d about something worth $300??? but i wont lie, i'd rather get one than not.

the iPods were this years alumni gifts to incoming freshman. they do something similiar every year, so chill.

Yeah, Class of 2007 got cup cozies. You'll get some kind of gift, it might stink though.

lol...cup cozies vs. iPods. Which one is better?

come on free tuition...come on....(hey, we can always hope)

But what if you got a full ride to Duke. Then a free iPod would be a nice little incentive. Although if you're considering Duke, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be an iPod that changed your mind.

who got a full ride to duke?

There has to be someone. My friend's cousin got a full ride and this girl from my school last year got 37k a year. Not bad

ooh i hope i get one that would be beyond awesome lol

they gave out ipods? sexy.

I cant believe Duke has to resort to bribign people into applying to their school. I mean, i know it's an awesome school but i find it rather funny that they're doing this. ALL schools should do this! I would love to get a FREE anything from each school i got accepted to. that woudl rock.

Oh by the way...

Is the ipod yours only if you enroll or is it shipped to you along with your acceptance letter? lol

I believe that students who received them last year got them at orientation, or something like that.

my gift from duke = acceptance letter please. i would be happy with that!!

Masha- Duke didn't bribe people into applying. They said that freshmen were getting free iPods in the summer, well after we decided on Duke. Plus they said it's only a one year thing. We got iPods during orientation week here.
