I do understand it is hard to make it to this industry but literally are there no full time jobs available for students who get a degree in either film&tv production/arts?
Dont network television hire film students? Channels like bbc/hbo/abc, they dont offer jobs? I am kind of ignorant here …Sorry for that
A lot job people in the film and tv industry do not have permanent full time jobs. They work on a project and then move on to the next project. Once you’re established, you may not have many gaps between jobs, and may have to juggle them all to make them fit. Not necessarily the case for those first entering the market.
There are full time jobs available in film production/ editing, if you are employed through a company that pays you for a salaried position and will have constant flow of work.
@uskoolfish is correct. My friend’s daughter decided not to go to film school (she went to an honors high school focused on visual arts) and just started working as a PA on jobs, then started getting hired as an asst AD based on her work resume. All the jobs she’s had are freelance. I think a lot of film makers work that way.
