No mention of major on acceptance letter?

Hey y’all,
So I got my acceptance letter from Case today (HOORAY!!!) but I would like to ask a question:

Was the major the applicant applied to mentioned at all in the letter?

The reason why I’m asking this: I applied for Pre-Dental as my primary concentration, Pre-Med as my secondary concentration. I play cello so I submitted my arts supplement…included in my acceptance letter was an offer to join the music department since I passed the audition (did not express an interest to major in music).

So now I’m wondering if I got accepted as a music major and not the others. Or does the major not even matter for admissions?

Thanks guys!!

Except in the case of a department like music, where an audition is required in order to major, admission is not specific to the major or concentrations you have specified. So while you should, of course, ask the admissions office directly for more details, what the letter implies is that your audition qualifies you to major or minor (or double major) in music if you are so inclined. It doesn’t commit you to doing so. Your acceptance is general.

Case does not admit by major. You are free to major in whatever major you wish within college of engineering and college of arts and sciences with a few exceptions, such as the music department. So you have been accepted to the music department as well as any other major you’d like that does not have an audition or pre-approval process.

Note that pre-med and pre-dental are not majors. You can major in anything you’d like and be pre-med or pre-dental. They are just tracks and there are sets of courses you must take to gain admission to med or dental school. They can be completed along with any major.

There are some nice music options on campus, and wonderful lessons from Case and CIM faculty if you wish. Also the Cleveland Orchestra season pass is a phenomenal price and the venue is on campus, really great music at a great price!
Music Lessons cost a little bit extra, but ensembles do not. My son played in University Circle Winds, with CIM, while going to Case. There are also music scholarships, some for those that minor in music. There was a live audition in February, as I remember if you are interested in music scholarships.
