No more CC Until the 15th

I'm cutting myself off--no more CC until the 15th! I think I'm driving myself crazy and making myself sound like a nutcase. I think I should rather keep myself preoccupied with other things. (As to why I made this a thread, I feel that it gives my decision a sense of finality.)

So to all of you who are applying to Pomona, goodluck! :) I'm off to practice my flute now, bye.

There was a post much earlier in this particular thread about the Claremont consortium and the person posting encouraged students to take full advantage of what each of the schools has to offer. For example, some Scripps students may take classes at Harvey Mudd, etc.

My question: Does this possibility apply to sports programs as well? (i.e., if I got into Claremont McKenna, for example, could I run cross country for Pomona?)

Please treat this as the completely hypothetical question that it is. I don't even know if Claremont McKenna or Pomona have x-c teams, but let's pretend that C-M does not, and that Pomona does.

Could I run for Pomona?

The Varsity athletics teams are broken up such that Pomona-Pitzer (sagecocks) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (stags) have combined teams. For intramurals these combinations change as there are some 5c teams and (i believe) there are teams limited to 1 college. I don't go there so i'm not 100% but this is my understanding of the situation.

GettinReady is mostly correct. For most sports, Pomona/Pitzer (Sagehens) field one set of teams, and "CMS" (CMC/Mudd/Scripps...female teams are Athenas, male teams are Stags) fields another set. So Pomona-Pitzer vs. CMS games are always a relatively big deal. If there isn't enough interest to field an entire team by one set of schools, the other, or both, then maybe they can combine. I'm not positive, but you should be able to fine the info online (every sport offered should have a webpage that'll talk about which schools participate).

For intramurals (and perhaps, as I mentioned above, a few other cases), the situation varies based on interest.

So to answer your question directly, if you went to CMC, you would run cross-country for CMS.

Gym and other athletic facility use also varies by school, and doesn't necessarily follow PP/CMS lines.

Probably a good move, catsushi, to get out of CC while you wait for your ED decision. I have been following your posts, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.... rooting cyber-style from the CC sidelines. Make sure to come back and let us know how it works out. Best of luck to you!

Thank you, 'rentof2 for your online-rooting! I was deferred, so I shall wait for the final answer in April. :)
