no more haas?/ go back to math 1?

wow i just found out i got a B in calc 2. i had an A going into the final too.

i want to transfer to haas or berkeley or UCLA econ. do i still have a chance?? should i not apply to haas anymore?

and the other question is should i go back and take math 1 to raise my pre req gpa and overall gpa? it will be such a pain

Need more information. Whats the effect on your gpa? Calc 2 isnt a req for Haas so it might not be a big deal. I had a C on my transcript - in English. If I can get in with a C in English Im sure a B in Calc 2 is not going to automatically kill your chances.

went down from a 4.0 to a 3.8. i think my calc 2 grade counts for my calc 1 req because i skipped calculus 1 with ap credits so idk. thats also why im wondering if i should take calc 1, maybe this summer.

just curious which english was that a C in?

did u take the AP calc BC exam and get a 5? that’s the only way they would give u credit for that. if u did get a 5, then u wouldn’t have to worry about ur calc 2 grade bc they only care about ur grades in ur prereqs and breadth.

and r u applying for fall 2011 or 2012. if ur applying for 2012 then u need calc 2. but getting a B isn’t bad at all, especially if it’s ur only B.

oh k thanks. i took calc AB and got a 3 lol. they told me if i went ahead and took calc 2 it would be alright because calc 2 is higher than calc 1. does that mean i should take calc 1? and even better if i take it this summer before applying?

i think im gonna apply this fall.

I also got a B in calc2 but then again I took calc1 too and got an A in that. I’ll be attending haas this fall.

What math are you required to take at haas? Does one have to do a lot of calculus if they are not going the finance route?

I transferred into haas with a B both semesters in calc 1 and calc 2. You’ll be fine. Starting this year/or the next i dont remember, calc 2 is now a requirement for Haas incoming transfers. They did drop some breadth requirements, though. (which is nice)

ok thanks guys. but do u guys think taking calc 1 will help or is it a waste of time??

Oh and also which breadth requirements did they drop? how did you guys even know. its not even on assist yet!

You can’t take Calc 1 after you have taken Calc 2. It doesn’t work that way.

im pretty sure i can take it cuz i did not take calc 1 before.

k i called haas and they said if i apply this fall then they will only look at my first attempt to fulfill the requirement which is calc 2 so taking it is usless.

if i apply the next next fall then i will have to take calc 1 cuz my ap score is too low and calc 2 cant fulfill it because i need 2 semesters of calculus.

btw is there a number to call for counseling for the letters and science?

I have to dig up my transcripts, but it was English 1A or the equivalent. It wasn’t an ESL class, it was composition I believe.

OK I CHANGE MY MIND. im gonna apply to UC Berkeley and UCLA economics this fall!! DO U GUYS THINK I SHOULD TAKE CALC 1?? <----awnser this question!!! help! i cant think straight anymore!!! i am thinking it will raise my pre-req gpa so i am more competitive cuz i got a B in calc 2. IS THIS A GOOD IDEA OR WASTE OF TIME? should i just take aother classes instead?

im only gonna apply to haas if i dont get accepted. To all new ppl i took calc 2 and skipped calc 1 with ap credit a 3 in calc AB. And calc 1 and 2 is major pre-req for UCB and UCLA econ.
