No one on CC talks about Pepperdine... the only threads I found were either really old or didn't have any replies. Trying to get some more "insider" information about Pepperdine by posting this thread since no one mentions Pepperdine much.

Be more specific about what you want to know.

People know about Pepperdine, but it appeals to a narrow set of students partly due to the religious nature of the college. So it doesn’t get recommended very often unless a student is specifically looking for that. What do you want to know?

What do you mean by no one? What do you want to ask?

Specifically about merit scholarship since I doubt I’ll get any financial aid. I have looked at their website, but there’s nothing very specific.

Pepperdine is a good school with a beautiful campus.

Here is a link to several years of the Common Data Set. In 2013-14, as noted above, 13.7% of students who did not get need based aid got merit aid. The average amount was $17,882.

My daughter’s friend did not qualify for FA but did get a 1/2 tuition merit scholarship (6 years ago). She only stayed one year as the school was not a good fit for her.

Are you applying for spring semester? If so do you mind sharing your stats? I’m trying to compare my chances and can’t find any info from other applicants anywhere…

Thanks! @jumpingstar

They have $9.6 million in merit aid.
They gave it to 497 undergraduates in 2013-14. That is 14% of students got something (avg $19.3k) in merit aid.
They could fund 152 full ride full rides, or 4% of undergraduates ($63k in 2013-14 for tuition/books/fees/room/board/other. Price is higher I think for 2015-16).
Instead, they spread it out to 497 students.
You get the idea.
I spoke to admit officer this week. They are very evasive about what they do, and what chances someone may have for full scholarships. Unless you get past their “front line” phone staff, you probably wont learn much.
My son is 1600/2330 SAT w 3.9 GPA at rigorous high school with good extras and a successful athlete. After scouring their website, and then calling, I still have no idea what he’d qualify for at Pepperdine, other than he’d likely get some partial scholarship. Not likey to allow attendance though…
