No pass or withdraw?

I am faced with somewhat of a dilemma. I am a current HS senior (Applying to Brown ED) enrolled concurrently in Arabic 1B at the local community college. I am really struggling in the class. In part because it is difficult, and in part because unavoidable extracurricular time conflicts mean that I have to miss a lot of class.

I have filed for a P/NP grading option, but because of the professor’s 6 missed classes = fail policy, I fear that I will receive an NP. I find the class interesting, but from the admissions standpoint is it better for me to withdraw and take a W on my transcript than it is to get that NP? Another factor to consider is that I am not taking another language this year, as I reached French level 4 my sophomore year.

I have 20 college credits (4.0 GPA) from concurrent enrollment, so not sending my CC transcript is not really an option.

Thank you for your consideration.

Take the W and get out of that class.

Beginning language classes simply aren’t compatible with a lot of absences. Wait to take the class when you can be there for each class meeting.
