My son applied RD to the University of Michigan and as of today he has not received a decision. He has to decide among several great schools to which he has been accepted by May 1.

Either Michigan has made some administrative error, which we will check on, or we wonder why we bothered paying the application fee to the place.

This is really weird, i applied for ED back in October, and i got deffered in December (although since I am an international student, I received the mail on January). But, I have yet to received my letter of admission from UMich, nor have they posted the “View Decision” link on WA, which again is weird. I have also not received any e-mail from them.
Anyway, I do hope that they get back to me, since they are currently my 1st choice (my 2nd choice and my thrid chocie i already got accepted into) but I want to know if I got into UMich before accepting/denying any other offers.

I have also yet to recieve an answer and I applied RD back in December. I’ve also been checking WA everyday but no change. I thought that since a LOT of people apply to UMich it would take some time to process applications but this is just wrong. I also thought that they would’ve already processed applications because someone from UMich, some guy named Van Heck (lol don’t remember his first name) called my school asking for a mid-year transcript. This sucks for those of us who had our hearts set on this school.

With all due respect mich128. If you had your heart set on Michigan, why did you wait so long to apply? Didn’t anyone tell you about getting your application in as early as possible? Nevertheless, you and others are absolutely correct in being disappointed in not hearing anything back in a timely fashion.

in response to rjkofnovi I waited so long to apply because unfortunately my counselor took too long in writing recommendation letter even though I asked her to write about 2 weeks in advance so unfortunately my application was considered RD instead of ED since my application wasn’t considered complete unless all materials are turned in.

The least they could do is wait list my like Columbia, which was my original 1st choice, but given its location (I am not a fan of NY City) and the fact that only 2% of those that get wait listed get accepted, I’d say that my chances of getting in are slim to none. What confuses me is why UMich still has not updated my status, and it seems like I am not the only one. How hard is it to update the status and tell that student that they have been accepted/waitlisted/rejected?
Anyway, I’ll try e-mailing them l8r, but yeah its kind of weird that they have not updated WA, which I guess shows that their system is bad. The irony is that when I was originally applying to UMich, i thought “Wow, what a great process, so user friendly”, guess I was wrong.

At this time, I think you should just call them and find out. Maybe your application never completed (lost parts, for ex, or your admissions officer misplaced it…??) or some other reasons.

Yeah i sent them my Sem 1 Grade 12 grades (twice). And i just talked with them through live help…they still have not made a decision for me, which is weird since I assumed they would release all of them earlier. But anyway, yes I did send them my Semester 7 grades as requested (twice, just to be sure :p)
