What's up with the Seminole vs. Gator rivalry? Maybe I don't understand it because I'm not yet officially a Gator...but c'mon now. It's kind of annoying to be honest. FSU is a great school as is UF - it's just the type of environment the individual thinks he would best flourish in. I've seen 'Noles complaining about "arrogant Gators" and Gators jabbing at "inebriated 'Noles"..at least on this forum. This got in the way of finding out definitive information as it was hard to wade through the biases and see what was really going on at each school.
So I ask you, fellow Gators and 'Noles, to come together, at least on this forum, and help the student decide which school is best of him. :P
Oh yeah, and kindly explain that rivalry..it's just kinda..silly.

amen! every university has something else to offer which is great because everyone is different and is looking for something different. I think they’re both great which makes it harder to decide where to go lol.

My aunt works for UF and I go to FSU. She tells me that most of the students do walk around feeling all entitled and “inebriated Noles” well that’s not too far of a stretch. Either way I think the rivalry is just a waste of time. It doesn’t matter where you go, it’s what you do with yourself there that makes the difference.

The majority of kids I know, corysmith, do not walk around feeling “entitled”. They work hard for their grades and are proud to be going to the number-1 ranked university in Florida. It’s pride :)

^ no offense or anything but I bet her aunt knows more students at UF than you do

It’s because you’re not in college yet that you don’t understand the rivalry, this time next year you will understand. lol

I appreciate what you’re saing JakeLikes2Blake. But, the perspective of an administrator of employee of the school might be drastically different from the actual atmosphere of the campus. Out of the ~20 kids that go, there are honestly only two to three questionable ones…in terms of attitude. Two different perspectives :)

Vertigo220h, I agree. It’s all about perspective and I know not everyone there acts entitled. But I don’t think my aunt’s perspective is all that drastically different from what is really happening. But then again, I can’t really judge based off someone else’s belief solely.

No, I think your aunt’s observations have validity too. It probably falls somewhere in the middle. I chose my friends…and they do not have domineering personalities and are generally pleasant so I’m sure that factors in.
Trust me, there are probably jerk Gators out there just as there are jerks everywhere else in the world.
But the optimist in me just wants to believe that it is an institution of higher learning  which…is hopelessly stupid in some peoples’ eyes just because they’re there to get smashed and be jerks. heh.
In conclusion, I hope that I will meet some great people there that aren’t focused solely on the perceived “prestige” of UF. It’s what you do with what you’re offered and not where you’re at so much!
Thanks! [: Have a good one :)

Gators are still jealous that they’ve never had an undefeated season.

It’s almost sad that each school is so defined by sports
They have awesome academic programs [both of them, in different areas] to be appreciated too ><
But sure, Gators are jealous -_-

Haha I agree they’re both good schools that vary by major. Football rivalries just make it more fun

I’m not a super sporty person but I think it’ll be fun to get ready for some of the big games…try to out-do those FSU girls in spirit though I don’t think I’ll go quite the same direction as most frat guys would like me to. Perhaps paint my face or something! Haha. Thanks for the feedback.

It is not just sports. FSU is the oldest institution of higher learning in Florida and has the most storied history. UF just thinks/wishes they have a similar history. It is a rivalry on many levels, but there is also substantial cooperation that often gets overlooked between the two primary state universities.
