Nomination?

On the Candidate Information System under nominations is says:

Nomination Source State District Date Received
Presidential 25-JUL-2007

Does this mean that USNA knows I have applied for the nomination or does it mean I actually got the nomination? I haven't received anything in the mail regarding it so I'm a little lost.

^^^^^
You won't receive anything in the mail. Your presidential nomination was approved on 25 July 2007 as posted. Congratulations!

Congratulations. The nomination has been received and approved. It does not mean that it will be used. Make sure you apply to all nomination sources. You should have contacted your Congressman and Senator's offices by now to ask about their requirements for nominations.

USNA, I Hope: Congratulations!! One more step completed!

mdlrnc: I don't understand your post, "The nomination has been received and approved. It does not mean that it will be used. Make sure you apply to all nomination sources."

I understand the need to apply to all sources to make sure you get a nomination, but why would anyone need more than one nomination?

Because that gives the Academy the most flexibility in filling slots with the best appointees. There are more nominations than appointments. Maybe you get both a senatorial and a congressional nomination. You may be the best in your congressional district but possibly way down - only number 5 - for the senator. If you had only the Senators nomination you stand a good chance of not getting the appointment. By having both nominations the Academy has more opportunity to offer an appointment.

As I understand it, each SA is allowed a limited number of Pres noms and many more than that number of kids get pres noms so if a candidate has a pres nom and congressional nom the SA has more options to admit that individual.

Thanks for the info. It's good to have that Presidential nomination in the bag.
