I just got off the phone with my financial aid advisor and she notified me that my NCP Waiver was approved, (that's good), but that it was reviewed late. For this reason, they were not able to offer me scholarships. She let me know that they recieved the Waiver Request about a week after all FA stuff was due. I have a successful fax result sheet that says that everthing was in about a week before the FA deadline. Should I provide this to NYU to show that I did meet the deadline? Do you think this would make any difference in the review of my waiver? (I applied for a waiver review to see if I would qualify for any scholarships.)

Or should I just take out a private loan with Sallie Mae? (It's for $50,000.)

Please search for the threads about the taking loans out to pay for undergrad. If you are talking $50K loan - do NOT do that! Almost all financial advisors advise no more than about $25K in loans total for 4 years.

I would most definitely send a copy of the fax showing the time stamp. I have no idea if it will make a difference but you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

You should definitely show that you had all of your documentation in on time and make them re-review your FA application.

Do NOT take out a $50,000 loan! You should take out a MAXIMUM of less than $40,000 for all four years.

I had my FA reviewed and am now being offered $40,000 in scholarships. I’m so happy that I had my FA reviewed.
