I think people make too many generalizations about so cal and nor cal. I mean, city to city is a fair comparison, but there are so many different things in both southern and northern california. Really hard to make a sweeping statement about either for me.

socal:
- women
- beaches
- clubs/nightlife
- hollywood/celebs
- lakers
- weather

I think that younger people prefer socal but as you get older and start settling down with your life i think norcal would be better.

^that hits the nail on the head for me

minus the Lakers

“Gnarly?” What is THAT?! I’ve never heard that in the years I’ve lived here in SoCal. I do agree with the younger people prefer SoCal, although my parents who have lived both in NorCal and SoCal prefer SoCal much more, lol. (:

+the Chargers. (LOL. -.-)

PS-Guilty of attending the New Moon premiere in November and being a super obsessed fangirl [it’s died down a lot], LOL. >__<;; It was my birthday! ^0^ Plus Rob was very nice! (so was everyone else…TayLat<3)

I’m a big fan of the word “awesome.”

Hah, I say “the 101” as well.

I’ve actually heard people say “gnarley” in La Jolla in San Diego. However, they were all little rich kids who went surfing almost daily xP

SoCal native, but NorCal lover.

yeah just take the 10 west to the 101 north and exit off highland and there you have the one of the reasons why SoCal will always beat NorCal for king of Cali.
Hollywood land of the superficial, its where everyone wants to be.
not SF not Chi-town not even the big apple.
everyone aspires to reach the Mecca that SoCal is.

/discussion

best surf is in norcal (mavericks)

…but the best beaches are in San Diego!

omg the Mavericks!!! when i was obsessed with surfing that was one thing i always wanted to see. Mavericks are these massive waves, MASSIVE and guys get killed riding them
i’ll give NorCal the surf.

@Evan: I think the use of the word “awesome” is universal.

@Pscholler- I know, I know. I’m particularly fond of it, though! ha ha.

Fo sho…

where did this originate?

Fo’ Sho, Fo’ Shiz

came into the lexicon not by geographical location but by linguistic patters from black english.

Supertaq!

10char

norcal is hella awesome.

no one rolls like we do in norcal

I don’t mind the hella thing, but I will definitely not be using it. Hella sounds like a wannabe gwen stefani song.

Had to bump because SoCal wasn’t getting enough love.

@lintij It slips sometimes, I was just like you in saying “I’ll never say it” but it just does…grr…>__<;;
