NorCal vs. SoCal

So...I guess while we pass the time waiting for Cal/UCLA decisions to come out...a rekindling of the old NorCal vs. SoCal battle is necessary...no matter who wins/loses, the thing to remember is: there is no better state than Cali ;)

I personally would have to side with NorCal on this one...I'm originally from NorCal and go to UCI so I can somewhat speak for both ends (I know Irvine is a boring city, but I have ventured out of this "bubble" of a place.)

So let the flame-war begin!

Spoiler Alert: NorCal wins :)

Why?

-San Francisco!
-Silicon Valley!--Facebook, Intel, Apple, the whole bandwagon.
-Nice, unfake, unique people (majority)
-Varying weather (I like it cold sometimes...jeez!)
-Cal and Stanford
-Lake Tahoe nearby
-Good Ski/Snowboard Places
-Wayyyyy better food!
-Hella Tourist attractions
-The f'ing word hella itself!
-Sacramento (the capital)
-Great America
-More Diversity IMO

the list goes on and on :)

Socal.

Los Angeles!
San Diego!
hot girls everywhere
better weather
Lakers
UCLA, USC, Cal Tech

This is not a debate! SoCal hands down!

Disneyland, Legoland, Sea World, Universal Studios, Six Flags, Soak City
Hollywood & San Fernando Valley (heee)
Weather
Beaches
Surfing (and any other sport that involves the sea)
No use of lame slang, i.e. “hella”
Beautiful everything
Rainbow sandals (holy grail)
Real Mexican food. No, not Taco Bell.

The list goes on and on and on. We win. Mehehe.

Haha sandaboy for creating this thread
u clearly love norcal :)

i live in norcal right now
want to go to UCLA

personally prefer Los Angeles because i’m a big city type of person
San Francisco gets quiet quite early (for under 21 ppl)

hopefully will get to experience lives in both places to have a more objective comparison
right now for me it’s a tie for norcal -socal

lol what city doesn’t get quiet for people under 21…just sayin’ haha…and San Francisco is a pretty big city with awesome surroundings like sausalito and daly city…oh and NorCal has the whole 6 flags and raging waters and water-world and stuff…but I’ll give you guys Disneyland and Universal  (those are pretty epic places)

^^^
What’s ur favorite spot in San Francisco ?

I know everyone in SF love the city but for some reasons, it’s not one of my favorite. I’m leaving SF at the end of summer anyways so maybe i’m appreciating the city more right now :)

@nyc

I didn’t live in SF itself but SOMA is pretty legit…oh and i recommend checking out Daly City (near SFSU)…and u know the usual places: fisherman’s wharf, market street, china town, etc etc.

Oh and if you think you’ve seen enough of SF, just go to Palo Alto, the East Bay, hahah Fremont where everyone you see is azn/indian lolol.

@sandaboy

ok will check out those places :)

Socal
not stupid enough to use words like “hella”

that’s the only thing we have going for us. That said, it outweighs anything you guys could possibly say in favor of norcal and in detriment of socal.

@ NYC

haha cool and have fun at cal day!! I really wanna do grad school in NYC btw…seems like an awsome place…Columbia?! lol

@xelink
explain why most of the SoCal people at UCI I know use the term lololol…it’s just hella natural buddy…once you start saying it, it’s like it was always in your dictionary :)

@ sandaboy

thanks. i also think abt nyc for grad school and dream of a fabulous place like Columbia !

@ sandaboy, they’re dirty norcal immigrants and if they aren’t then they’ve been corrupted by them.

lol @ mexican food. AGREED! i love all the taquerias around me from socal !

I thought OP stated a funny point on unfake people. well plastic surgery only means easier on the eye  so + for socal

maybe its just san jose… or not sure of what ‘food’ is good up there but asian food SUCKS so bad ! Every single time i go up there and eat asian food, i get home sick. Although theres delicious clam chowder in a bowl but nothing that disneyland can’t beat  for like half the price (10 vs 20$ at this one restaurant i stopped by after tahoe in SF’s fishermen’s warf area)

but i love lake tahoe and snowboarding :[

ps. i use hella (verbally) and i’m from socal >__<

the taquerias down south are bomb. carne asada fries baby!!

really? daly city? No one wants to go to daly city

Socal:

Beaches+Surf=Babes

San Diego
Los Angeles (Depending on the Traffic)
Lakers

Mexico nearby
Perfect Weather (74 F Today)
Getting Tan
Did I mention the Chargers and Raiders?

SoCal is better, but Cal is still my number one school.

I’m from SoCal, and I agree with the OP. In fact, the only thing I could really imagine missing is the fantastic Mexican food down here.

NORCAL FTW!!!

i dont even need to list the things norcal has over socal

God, I love Carne asada fries. There has to be somewhere in the Bay Area that sells them!
