North Campus Housing Please Help

I am an incoming freshman and like the idea of north campus housing in terms of location and I thought perhaps a little less rowdy than south campus. But I do have a question. Does anyone know whether the housing people make an effort to house freshmen together or is it random? Do I face the possibility that I'll be surrounded by only upperclassmen on north campus? I may not be a heavy partier but I am friendly and do want to meet other Freshmen. Please respond ASAP. Thanks!

The whole housing process is undergoing a major change this year. You will have a freshman roommate if on north campus. I don't think anyone (outside of the housing office) knows how many freshman will be in any given north campus dorm but you won't be alone though you may be in the minority.

You might want to search past Daily Tar Heel articles about housing policy changes because there might be more detailed info there. You can access the DTH via the UNC website under the "For Students" section.

don't worry, there's going to be a lot of freshmen in north campus next year and like eadad said, you will most likely have a freshmen roommate. Each dorm has a set number of rooms that it sets aside for freshmen.

Also, even if you were put in south campus, there is no guarantee that you will be in a suite with all freshmen. I lived in south campus my freshmen year and I was the only freshmen in a suite full of sophmores. Now I'm on north campus on a hall thats mostly sophmores with about as many seniors as freshmen. I work in housing, they are just trying to make it so that freshmen are evenly distributed throughout campus.

eadad and unccadet08,

Thanks for your input. Looking forward to fall '06!
