North Carolina School of the Arts

Anyone hear anything more? Any new admittees?

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I emailed Bill Poole last night and today he told me that he is mailing the letters this week for the late february auditions!! So, that’s me. He didn’t seem to know who I was, so that’s not really a good sign, but at least I will have an answer. He said it was a ‘multitude of letters’ that had to be sent.

Hey everyone. I received an email today notifying me that the school is pleased to offer a 'waitlist" position…? Does anyone have any information concerning this decision? Should this be taken as a good sign or bad?

Thank you for your help

I think you should be very honored, classicaltenor, but I don’t think they did into the waitlist. When we went to auditions, they talked about how last year they had more than they anticipated show up because they accepted more than they anticipated, but more said they would come. I guess you just don’t know. But its an honor to be waitlisted at such a fine school. Congrats.

Thank you very much. The email described that the waitlist was very small indeed, and I would be notified immediately when a position is available… it’s a tricky situation but hopefully it will turn out for the best. I would be very interested to know a ranking system with the waitlist, however.

still no mail. i think my p.o. box is eating it all. i havent gotten anything in a week and a half and im still waiting on 7 colleges. i am a transfer, so this might have something to do with it, but my 1 rejection (calarts -didnt know u had to be an undergrad year 1-) is starting to wear on my self-esteem.

i keep running through all the auditions in my mind. soooo unhealthy.

Hang in there! This is an agonizing time. On Monday, we were still waiting on 7 schools – now down to 1. They came in a quick flurry, with one surprising acceptance. All it takes is one!!!

I auditioned in late Feb too. Bill Poole said I should have my letter by today, I did get a letter, but it was a letter about “verification” for my fasfa. Is this a good sign? do you think they would bother if I didn’t make it?

IMHopeful:

I know, Im just really hoping I get into 1!!! I just need one!!! That’s so amazing that you got a surprising acceptance, I am hoping to get one!

starsarai720, I think that should be a good sign. Don’t quote me on that though. But, hey, at least u got something today!

My D auditioned in mid February and we have heard nothing.

My D was waitlisted and they basically told her that it could be midsummer before they knew if there was a spot for her (obviously too late)

Hey everyone,

I auditioned on 2/14 and still have not heard. I did email Bill Poole this past Wednesday and he informed me that the letter was to be mailed out the same day, which I’m sure holds the same for those of you who auditioned with me in mid-February.

I’ll post when I do receive a decision.

Best,
Sean

My D talked to Poole today. She did not get accepted, but they asked her specifically (and in her letter which happened to arrive today) to audition again next year. She didn’t know what to do with that. Oh well. UCLA or Cal Arts or CCM or Emerson here she comes…

My dd’s letter also asked her to audition again…according to an “insider” they do not send that particular letter to everyone.

That’s what Poole did say on the phone…Hmmm… that’s nice to know

audition again? that seems weird to me. I still have heard here in GA. :frowning: Im getting uncomfortable here.

It would be interesting to find out what percentage of their freshman class is actually older and transfer students. I suspect that their class may be starting to look like Juilliard with a mix of ages.

Does NCSA take transfers? Or would a kid who did not get accepted this year and auditions next (after matriculating at another school) have to start all over again?

the 4 students i saw at my auditions definitely looked like first year freshmen. it made me nervous because im a transfer.

I realize that most on this board are referring to the drama/acting program at UNCSA, but…

I’m in!

The waitlist was a mistake, and my letter of acceptance is being mailed. I am going for music-vocal performance, so I know that this post is a little off-topic for the majority of the previous converstaions. I felt like positive news was needed for this thread! Anyway, best of luck to everyone!
