How much will they cost you, and is the difference important to you?

Have you looked at the courses and curricula for nuclear engineering at each school to see which has the selection of in-major electives that most interest you?

For finishing undergraduate at each school, take a look at the course plans for nuclear engineering at each school and map them out according to what you go in with (e.g. AP credit) to see whether either can allow a semester early graduation, or has a higher risk of late graduation (consider whether important in-major courses are offered every semester or just once per year or even once every two years).

Hmmm, does $6,600 per year matter to you (the difference in list price cost of attendance between cheaper NCSU and more expensive Penn State for out-of-state at both – actually, the difference may be greater, since NCSU’s estimate of $33,809 includes “personal expenses” and “transportation” that Penn State’s estimate of $40,408 does not)?

If you are concerned about rankings, it appears that NCSU is also ranked slightly higher.

Do you prefer urban or rural? Visit both. PSU is about 30% OOS. NCSU is limited to 18% OOS, and I think the actual out of state population may be lower.
Nucs are a very select group - almost like vet school in terms of number of programs.

Neither of these schools offers any of these other than NC State having warm weather:
-Big city
-Warm weather
-Good education to prepare me for grad school
-Finish undergraduate ASAP
