Northeastern Colleges

Hi everyone.

I was just wondering what your thoughts are for where I should apply.

GPA: 3.3uw/4.3w (don't know what they are into the thousandths place)
SAT I: 680M/650V I have test anxiety so I've been practicing timed tests with the 10 Reals and have been consistantly getting over a 1450...hopefully BU will get my Jan, score in time.
SAT II: hope to get a 780+W, 740+MathIC; retaking MathIIC, and taking Bio E and Lit in Dec. with hopes to get 780+ on all 3

ECs
Student Council 4 years
Soccer 4 years
Tennis 4 years
Orchestra, principal 5 years
a lot of musical groups
selected for All-State band 2 years
400-500 volunteer hours

a really great essay...well, according to 3 English teachers that have proof read it anyway..
really great recs

My GPA was at about 3.6, but, needless to say, I had a most horrible junior year because I had an extreme case of depression that really affected everything. My quarter grades were all As and a B+ in AP Calc BC, but I have all As as of now.
The ECs I posted are just a general overview. I have a lot of other activities I've been committed to for most of high school.
I want to go to a fairly large school in the Northeast for music performance, but not to a conservatory, because I want to minor in business or finance. Also, I would rather be in the city than in a rural town, but I suppose it depends on how much I like the school.
So...what do you think my reaches and matches are? I already have a few that I am considering as safeties, and I know that I am applying to BU.

Thanks!

bump.
anyone?

Northeastern University (safety/match), Boston University (as stated, match), Trinity College (match/reach), George Washington University (match/reach), American University (macth). Here are just a couple that sound like they might fit you.

Thanks calidan. Is NYU too much of a reach?

I was going to put NYU on the list, but wanted to wait for your SAT II scores. If you do as well as you think you will, then NYU is definitely not too much of a reach. It is very reasonable. Good luck! :)

What do you think is a reach for me? I know Columbia is way out there, so I'm not going to apply.

Bump. Anymore comments?

^ ^ ^ Ditto.

Might want to apply to Holy Cross very good academic school with good balance of athletics and social life. HC is much higher rated than BU. BU has no school spirit.

Three other possibilities: Boston College, Fordham, Ithaca College. Boston College would be a bit of a reach, the other two would be matches.

Huh. I didn't think BC offered a music performance major.

Sure do: http://www.bc.edu/schools/cas/music/

Oh. ;) Thanks!

take a look at Skidmore

Don't think BC is known for music programs. BU, Tufts, Brandeis are much better schools.

But BC IS known for its business programs --- something the OP wanted - and has a decent music program as well.
