So I have heard that course selection is done during orientation day. However, my orientation is the last date (8/31-9/1), so I am a bit worried that classes may fill up. Is it possible for classes to fill up before selection, and if it is, is it possible for me to select my classes before my orientation date?
Depending upon your major, your advisor may pre-select classes for you (if you check on MYNEU - you are probably already in classes they selected). At orientation, these classes will be tweaked. You will be meeting with your advisor who has the ability to override a filled class to get you in (if it is a class you need.)
You will be pre-seeded in the classes that your major requires you to take first semester. If you have AP credit or similar, you make changes for that at orientation. I also had one of the last orientation sessions and a lot of classes to switch around, but I didn’t have any trouble. You might not get your first choice, but advisors will make sure you get the classes necessary to keep advancing.
