I just received my preliminary schedule for the Fall 2017 and I have my orientation in a few weeks. It is my understanding that at orientation the advisors go over your schedule. To what extent can it be adjusted? I want to change some of the times that I have the courses and possibly professors. Looking for some insight.
You have full control of your schedule so long as there are spots in the courses you want to switch into. You can change professors, times, etc, and switch any classes that aren’t directly for your major sequence or basic requirements like first year writing. If you have a choice of classes depends on your major of course.
Thank god, will I be able to do this on my own after orientation? Or only when I am with my advisor?
I forget if that’s possible after orientation for first semester - I would look up the classes you want to switch into etc and have that ready at orientation to be safe. Worst case, you can email your advisor for changes after orientation. Obviously, after your first semester, it’s all on you except for auto-enrolled freshman courses for your major, which you can still switch professors for.
You can make changes at orientation. Afterwards, you can email your advisor and they make the changes for you
@dcgirl17 Did u receive a survey to fill out before receiving the schedule or did you just get the schedule?
@dcgirl17, I’d like to know as well. A myPAWS link showed up in my daughter’s NEU portal. Still trying to understand how to read it, but there aren’t any class times.
As far as I know, your schedule is auto-enrolled classes by major + first year writing if needed, which you then adjust and add to at orientation based on AP’s, etc. myPAWS is your degree audit, where you can see all your requirements and your progress towards them. It is not a schedule. All of the schedule information should be under a “My Schedule” link unless something is different for incoming students this year.
Just double-checked, there isn’t a “My Schedule” link just myPAWs. Maybe it may come later.
