Northeastern Fall 2014 Transfers

Guys, did you get denied through applicants link?

because i haven’t gotten anything yet. still a bit of hope

@dzharkov Neither have I. What major did you apply as?

@kingofsweden finance, which is the hardest to get into

Wait my application status check is still online… did you guys hear back by email or did you just call? is your application status check still working? @northeasterngirl @psyched4psych

By email. I need some opinions. I got into Suffolk university in boston. I dont know if I should try it out there in the fall. Or stay home and reapply to Northeastern, and try applying to Boston university

@northeasterngirl where were you before? community college? Depending on your financial aid I would say that you should try out suffolk university, and just take some courses that you will ace and try re-applying early on. Or who knows you may just like suffolk.

@northeasterngirl suffolk is not the best place being honest. i am a student there.

I’m at Long Island University Post. I got a 12,500 dollar scholarship to Suffolk. I was thinking of trying out Suffolk, and just re-apply to Northeastern and see what I wanna do. I heard that Suffolk is nice but I also read that the it’s somewhat quiet.

If the financial aid suffolk is giving you is lousy i would say to take some time off and try to study for you mcats amd try building your resume by shadowing and finding a research position in a hospital and then re-apply

@northeasterngirl think about it like this, when you apply to medical schools youll have something to write about being an untraditional applicant after taking a year off from school, and also if you devote a year to mcats and get like a 35 i think youll be better off

I applied as a psychology major. @northeasterngirl
I received an email telling me to check the portal. @hofstra‌

My fiancee doesn’t want to move to NYC, and I missed the deadline for U of R waiting for Northeastern so Im pretty bummed out.
I’m waiting to hear back from Syracuse University.
I called them and they said that my grades were fine and if there was less applicants/ i applied earlier then i would have gotten in.

I cant afford to wait another semester and try to reapply because I’m already behind in undergrad
Good Luck to the rest of you!!!

@northeasterngirl yea, it’s correct that Suffolk is pretty good with the financial aid, but go there only if you aren’t going to graduate and transfer then to Northeastern.

Was suffolk bad? @dzharkov. I hope it doesn’t look bad to northeastern if I go to suffolk for the fall and then re-apply for the spring.

@dzharkov Living in the city of Harvard, MIT, Boston College, BU, NEU, Babson, Bentley, etc. Suffolk grads can’t survive in terms of job placement if you don’t have connections. It’s not bad in terms of teachers, but it’s bad in terms of finding a job. It’s my own opinion, but i think that students with great GPA deserve more.

@dzharkov If you applied as an economics major, you application is pending re-evaluation, like mine.

The economics department at Northeastern is part of the College of Social Science and Humanities. This school originally had no openings for transfers, and we were supposed to receive denial letters via email the same as the rest of the candidates. Somehow, spots opened up at CSSH, and all candidates who applied there who have not received a decision will have their applications re-evaluated by the committee. I requested an expedited decision, so I should hear back by June 15. Hopefully all candidates will as well.

@kingofsweden Unfortunately no, i am not economics major. I am majoring in finance and i want to get into Business school. One of my friends has already received a rejection about three weeks ago and the reason was full capacity. However, i am still hoping for acceptance.

I am just curious that in case i want to reapply, do i need to write the same transfer essay and submit other recommendations. For me it seems to be stupid submitting almost the same documents.

@littlecookie‌ you applied to the Music Industry Program right? How did you receive your decision? Did you call, or did you receive an email? I haven’t heard back from that program yet :frowning:

@dzharkov I would call the admissions office tomorrow and ask about your application. Maybe you can get some sort of update on where you stand. It’s best to know sooner rather than later.

I’m going to Suffolk university for the fall so I can be in Boston, but I’m re-applying to NEU for the spring so I can maybe be where I truly want to be.
