Hey everyone haven't seen a transfer thread for next fall and I have lots of questions as I'm trying to transfer myself. Hopefully this will get something going and help some people out.

Was just about to make this, so thank you. Did NEU change their policy for HS transcripts this semester? I’m a freshman and was planning to send just my college GPA because I thought if you had more than 12 credits (or 24hrs of class) you were exempt. Apparently its 24 credits required to be exempt. Did I read it wrong the first time or is this a new policy?

Just to make clear, I’ll have 32 credits by the end of the year but at the time of applying (as it says) I’ll only have 16 credits.

Looking at their application checklist, it says 24 semester hours, I think I’ll just call and see.

Their checklist: http://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/pdfs/sp14_transfer_app_checklist.pdf

Hey boston94! I was wondering the same thing about SAT scores! I tried to call the office but I didn’t get a response! When I go to the transfer information session in February, I’m sure I’ll get an answer!

Hi! I’m hoping to transfer here too this coming Fall. Was thinking on trying out for their Pharmacy program. Anyone have any tips on how to do so?

Hi! Does anyone know if they offer some kind of TOEFL waiver? I am an international student from Ecuador but i have been studying in an accredited us university here where all my classes are in English, plus i have already taken composition 1 and 2 with a grade of A on both AND I already took the TOEFL test just before finishing high school with a score of 102 (it was a requisite to take the TOEFL in order to graduate bilingual at mi hs)

@Transfer21994 - that seems like something you’d want to ask admissions directly since it’s an unusual circumstance.

Anyone have an idea of when they think the first set of transfer decisions will be sent out? Most of my information was in on the 4th besides my registrar report (last and final required document) which was finally posted as of the Feb. 12th. I know they say approx four weeks for decisions, but I am hoping it will be a little sooner than that :/

Is anyone here applying as a first year transfer? For some reason, Northeastern says they received my high school transcript but they have not put it up on the application status check. Also, are mid year reports required before the decision?

@tankredsox
It varies for everyone but I have heard of people getting their decision in two weeks (:

I’m also applying as a first year transfer! And that’s weird that they said they got your high school transcript… Maybe they pulled it from your file, if you applied before! And from what I know, yes, midyear reports are required!

Do you know when we should have the mid year report sent in by? For most of my classes, we’ve only had 1 exam so far.

I only sent in a midterm report with only 3/5 courses having grades in them…I hope I can get an admission decision before I send in more grades!

I didn’t even send a midyear report since I sent my high school transcript, SAT/ACT etc. etc. I believe that is an acceptable alternative, but can anyone confirm that? I am hoping they will release decisions in the next week or two…I have had all required documents in since Feb. 12 :/

hey guys I just wanted to make sure… is it possible to re-apply to northeastern if I do get rejected for the upcoming fall ? cause I know that some schools you have to wait one or two years just to re-apply…

@sha242 I’m pretty sure you can reapply if you get rejected the first time! But I’m sure you won’t get rejected so don’t worry too much!

@PeachesOrPears thank you! haha I’m just so nervous! I hope we all get in! :)

You can reapply as a transfer student. If you are rejected as a freshman and do a gap year, you had better do something impressive during that year.

Hey I was wondering if anyone could offer me some insight…I just emailed Northeastern Admissions Counselors asking when I should hear a response back about my admissions decision (as I was aware that it was a rolling decision in approx 4 weeks from when I submitted my application and I had everything in as of Feb.4th) but upon emailing them, I received a response saying that I wouldn’t hear until April or later. Do you think that they say that just as a baseline because I have seen people posting their acceptances as soon as March 14th in previous years. I am just struggling because I don’t want to lose my housing deposit which would happen if I didn’t receive a decision until after March

I would find out which admissions officer is handling you application directly and email them, because if you just email the admissions office in general, all you will get is that automated response.

My friend called a while back to ask whether decisions were rolling, since two classmates who applied RD received acceptances around Valentine’s day and the person who answered in the admissions office said “We haven’t notified any applicants yet. Decisions will come out in April.” So either that admissions person didn’t know what’s going on, or…

I’m referring to freshman candidates above-- but in any case, it’s not clear that the people who answer the phone are giving accurate info.
