Northeastern Fall 2014 Transfers

my NEU portal says we need to pay $200 by July 1, 2014! Congrats again everyone!!

@northeasterngirl‌ What’s your major?? If you’re anything in sciences I can probably help with classes! :D

@PeachesOrPears Thank you so much! I am a sophomore applying as a Bio major for the spring semester. Any suggestions?

@northeasterngirl‌ I would try to take organic chem, cell bio, genetics and calc? I was a bio major before I switched to journalism and those were the classes I was looking at!

I feel like I am the only one who hasn’t gotten a reply yet :(

@Lifeinthe21‌ you haven’t gotten a response yet?! I’d definitely call them tomorrow, that’s crazy!

one more question: Do you guys think that I should write another Transfer essay or reuse the same one I applied with? I worked pretty hard on it lol.

@lifeinthe21 your not alone haha, which school are you applying to?

@northeasterngirl Gwaltxx pretty much pegged all the classes! xD

As for your essay, I would wait a bit and then read it again. Then try to think if there are any bad things about the essay or if it sounds like a “please rescue me from my hopeless school” essay rather than one about “why I want to transfer to northeastern” essay. If it still sounds good to you, GREAT!

Getting a second opinion from your advisor or anyone you admire (even though it may be awkward) is a good idea. Try not to get your friend’s advice because generally you don’t want someone who is at the same intellectual level to read your essay (not saying they’re stupid at all!). They may see some different errors but will more than likely think of it the same way you do and say it’s fine when it may not be!

Hope that helps!

@gwaltxx‌ I called them Friday and the guy in admissions said he was done guessing and had no
Idea so he transferred me to a transfer counselor but they didn’t answer, I left message but never got a response.
@hofstra‌ I’m glad! I was feeling lonely! Not that I’m
Glad you’re in the agony of waiting too. I applied to college of arts and science as a double in English and history. I know spots were limited in that school but it’s like how long does it take to send a rejection letter? Lol

@Lifeinthe21‌ That’s so crazy, I’m so sorry they’ve kept you waiting this long :frowning: I already lost over $500 because they told me so late and I already put housing deposits etc on a different school but oh well. Hopefully they’ll give you a decision soon.

I’m currently a health sciences major. I don’t know which is harder to get into a NEU. Bio or Health Sciences.

I’m going to the orientation on July 24. Anyone else going on that date?

@goldblend I’m going to orientation then too! :3

For those who haven’t been admitted yet, my mom called today and the guy told her decisions will be released between 3-5. He said the decisions have been made and they have been putting together financial packages. She said he seemed confident it would be today. Let’s hope!

im finally locked out :-SS

@goldblend @peachesorpears I am going on that date as well!

I apologize now, because I have tons of questions. Does anyone know when we get transfer credits reviewed or how that works? Do we register for classes at orientation? AND does anyone know what the foreign language requirements are for science majors? I got an email about language placement exams and got very confused.

@Kberry810 Log into myNEU and go the link for Blackboard. In Blackboard there should be a link for “Per-Orientation Advising”; it will explain NU core requirements, your major requirements, how to contact your advisor, and most importantly, how to pick your courses. I am almost positive that a Bachelors of Science DOES NOT have a foreign language requirement. I am a Music Industry Major B.S. and I am not required to take a foreign language.

Please private message me if you have anymore questions! I would be glad to help!
@Kberry810‌ and @PeachesOrPears‌ Hope to see you at orientation July 24!

@goldblend‌ I logged into blackboard but I can’t find any option for pre-orientation registration. Do you know where it is located or when it became available to you?

did anyone get any updates on housing? I haven’t sent in my deposit yet because I’m still waiting on financial aid :/
