Northeastern vs University of Washington, Seattle

I plan to major in Economics, although I only got into the pre Social Sciences major at UW.
Cost isn’t an issue.
I’ve heard negative reviews of the advisors for the Economics major at UW, and the co-op program at NEU intrigues me.
I’m not 100% sure on what kind of campus I prefer at this point.
Anyone have any thoughts?

As you may know, at Washington, you would need to apply to the Economics major (B.A. or B.S.) after completing certain prerequisites. They do not admit freshmen directly to that major.

If you are in the area, you may wish to attend an information session, which are held every first and third Thursday of each month:

Hello,

Im an international student so I don’t think that would be possible anytime soon.

I was looking for more information on general campus life and activities. I’ve heard that the dorms can get quite deserted on weekends as there are a lot of students who visit home? Additionally, is the rain in Seattle really as bad as everyone says it is?

Thank you!

It rains frequently in Settle. And Boston gets a lot of snow.

Around 70% of freshmen live in UW housing, and around 35% of students are OOS and international (who can’t just go home for the day to visit the family and do laundry), so there are always thousands of students on and around campus on any given day during the school year.

Seattle has less total precipitation but more days of precipitation (a lot of drizzle and mist):

Good news is that both Seattle & Boston are great cities for students & young professionals.

“is the rain in Seattle really as bad as everyone says it is”

In the winter it rains a lot in Seattle. A typical day in January is going to be overcast with light rain. An English style rain coat might be a good thing to have, hopefully fitted such that you can wear a light sweater under it when needed. Summers in Seattle are beautiful.

However, the weather is not generally cited as the reason to go to school in Boston. A typical day in January in Boston pretty much doesn’t exist. One day it will be sunny and slightly below freezing (maybe -2C), the next day it will be windy with hard driving rain, the next day it might be sunny again or overcast or it might be snowing. There is an old saying: “If you don’t like the weather in Boston, wait a minute”. Summers in Boston are quite variable also.

Both are good schools.
