Besides guarding the rock, what are other activities a typical student at Northwestern University would do?

There’s plenty. Spending time with your friends doing whatever - mostly totally improvised - is my biggest timesink. Playing Madden next door, basketball at Blomquist, scaling random buildings (only sort of kidding).

I do find the unintentional image of the only thing Northwestern kids do is guard a rock funny.

Attending football games in the fall, attending theater shows (at least one). There are some others.

D has been busier than I have ever know her to be since starting at NU, and that’s saying a lot as she has always been among the most active people I know. Between endless rehearsals for shows and a cappella she squeezes in classes and studying, parties, daily exercise, attending and giving lots of performances and possibly even finds a spare moment to eat occasionally. Sleep? No time for that.

I honestly don’t know where NU students find time to study between the endless activities available on campus. All you have to do is walk down a campus sidewalk while looking toward your feet to find something amazing to do.
