I did! Did for applied math! @em0622
I did too! Biomedical engineering
I just don’t understand… what can Northwestern gain from being secretive about when decisions will be released?
Nearly all other schools have very specific release time
@FiringSquad They’re probably laughing at all the applicants freaking out like they did with the angered parents a few years back
it keeps the mystery going…lol
Northwestern released their ED decisions last year at 6:04 pm on December 14th. I am a current student who got deferred ED and then accepted RD so if you get deferred, all is not lost! Good luck!
@NW2021 do you know how many people they defer and how many out of those eventually get accepted?
@jayinspace I think around 80 people got deferred last year and at least half got in after that. Most schools have a deferral algorithm (like admit a third and defer the rest) but NW gives out a true deferrals so there is still hope.
@NW2021 6:04pm central time?
@designphoto EST
@NW2021 after you were deferred, were you able to update your personal statement/NU supplemental?
@homeschoolflexin I reached out to the admissions director and my regional admissions representative (contact info should be with your college counselor) and sent them updated statements, supplements, etc.
What are some bad things about Northwestern?
@delldellcell they don’t tell anyone when they’re releasing decisions
does anyone know where on the portal page it will say our decision?
@imgoingnowhere I am an ED applicant as well. I just want to know some bad stuff about NU so that I dont get disappointed when I get my rejection letter. whatever nvm.
@delldellcell I think you misunderstood what I was saying, but if you really want something that’s “bad” about NU: tuition.
@firingsquad Yale hasn’t released a set time, we just know it’ll be in the afternoon or evening, but no offical communication means we project a decision at 5 PM EST. So who knows. But yeah, looks like more than just Northwestern is doing this.
Also, as a Chicago suburb resident, good luck to all of you!!! Northwestern has a really pretty waterfront campus (heaven knows I’ve spent enough time there to know this), and is a great school!
@delldellcell Some bad stuff? 65k hah. But other than that, it’s apparently pretty hard to switch between their schools, if you change your mind halfway through being an undergrad. Plus based on your major, the academic rigor makes it apparently more cutthroat than some other schools, from what I’ve heard. Plus the intensity of some of the grading curves (certain majors more susceptible than others) makes the school a minor nightmare. But hey, that’s just what friends who go there say, and a small subset of them!!
@imgoingnowhere lol my bad. Also, I heard its super cold up there.
