Waitlisted at Weinberg (guess my profile picture, taken a few miles from Northwestern’s campus, saved me haha). Pretty happy considering I was expecting a rejection… 1570 SAT, 4.0 UW, 4.6 W, NMF, salutatorian, from MA
Edit: I was not offered an interview, so I submitted a letter instead
Anyone know how many people get off the waitlist? Is it worth it to accept the spot?
I am curious to know if applying for financial aid has any role in the acceptance/rejection at NW. I believe that a person has high chance of getting admission in NW if he/she is not seeking financial aid. I would like to test this hypothesis. It will be helpful if people can post accepted or rejected status and whether they applied for financial aid. I will start with my daughter’s status - Rejected with excellent stats but seeking financial aid…
Northwestern’s financial aid office and admissions office are separate from what we know, so their decisions are not based on financial aid as far as we know. They call this being “need blind” and many elite universities have adopted this policy.
I really don’t believe they would reject people based on aid either because they simply give aid or do not and these colleges have such large endowments that financial aid is something they usually take pride in as it makes them seem more charitable.
Accepted! I had a game so i couldn’t open my decision until I got home. But I was certain that I was going to get rejected that I waited until 7:30 to open it. Luckily , it was good news . 34 ACT / 4.27 GPA , I did the interview and showed lots of interest
Idk, some ppl are saying they got in without the email, some say they got in with. Idk tbh.
Regarding FinAid, IMO even if institutions say they’re need blind, they’ll try to maximize their profits, and hence take in the ones having full capability to pay for themselves over the other app, when they’re deemed to have the same “level” of competence.
Rejected (NU is his top pick)
