if my daughter wants to pursue business, which of these schools is best for career opportunities?

Lol, they are all great, it just depends on what kind of business she wants to be in..does she want to go into economics, finance, marketing, international business, what exactly does she want?

I agree with Sheed. Business is a broad subject so your daughter must specify what business subfield she wants to study. Those schools have strengths in particular subfields of business.

ok thanks. what are the strengths of the AEM program?

http://aem.cornell.edu/undergrad/index.htm

check this site out...it basically tells you what you need to know including their rank and all that.

since they are almost equal academically, how do they rank in regards too prestige?

NYU has the best location and job placement, but you'd better like finance.

NYU-Stern is the best.

I recently made the decision between Stern and NU Econ, so I can talk about those two. I ended up choosing Northwestern. Stern has better immediate job placement, but not by a ridiculous margin. Econ at Northwestern is highly recruited. In the long run, both degrees have equal prestige and will give you the opportunity to get where you want to go in business (finance specifically). That being said, I wanted a liberal arts education just for the hell of it and because I might lose interest in business, a traditional campus and college experience, and to not feel like I was in a factory for I-bankers (Stern) as opposed to a university where I could generally expand my mind. I can't comment on Cornell's AEM (don't even know what AEM stands for), but that's my insight into the NU econ vs. Stern debate. If her heart is for one reason or another dead set on entering the banking world as soon as humanly possible, specifically in New York, then she should go for it. In all other situations, I would recommend for an 18 year old like myself to go to Northwestern. Hope this helps.

AEM and Stern are fairly similiar, but econ is a much different beast than most general business programs. I would never go into management/market/accounting and other business programs for the life of me but I'm majoring in econ. Is your daughter more interested in the academic study of business (and math, too) or just business?

I have heard NYUs placement is actually horrible outside of NYC, and stern isn't nearly as recruited for consulting

They are all about equal in terms of prestige, but I would go to Northwestern because its the most balanced overall experience in my opinion. Cornell would be a close second.

yeah i'd say northwestern or cornell, depending on whether you like the midwest or east coast, kinda big or big, respectively.

Go to Northwestern! Its econ department is top 7.

I've been told that what you major as an undergraduate is highly irrelevant if you mean to eventually aim for MBA. It's probably best to let your daughter choose which college she prefers overall. Personally I'd say between Cornell and NU in terms of academics and recognition, but NYU certainly has its own advantages so it comes down to her preference.
