Northwestern Fall Transfer 2020

Do you think it might not come out today due to COVID-19?

Quite possibly. I know that several universities aren’t mailing out letters/packages, so it might mean they’ll also take longer with decisions. NU is kind of different though, considering it releases in waves… so it might announce today for those who submitted their apps before stay-at-home measures were implemented

Idk tbh, I submitted mid-February but I still don’t have the FA tab

Do you need aid though? @jasonyfgong

@jasonfygong are you sure you applied for financial aid in the CommonApp?

I had the FA tab as soon as I had access to my admissions page back when I submitted my app in March, so I guess I’d agree with the people who don’t think that the FA is indicative of those who will get results today? But of course we’ll see once/if they are released. @jasonyfgong

I know I got mine recently. Not right away. I need aid and have submitted fafsa and css.

I think some decisions may come out today given the trend from recent years. The first round are likely to be mostly rejections like years before…
But what changed this year is northwestern guaranteed all applicants with a decision by May 15…this is faster than previous years… not sure if they will give good news today…

@kcasssuu Right, and they said that submitting by the original deadline would most likely lead to an earlier decision, so I don’t think it’ll be almost only rejections today. I feel like speculating is useless at this point though because we just have no clue how this will go during a pandemic.

I’m late to the chat but why do you all think decisions are coming out today?

@nerdalert01 Normally Northwestern releases the first wave of decisions on the first or second Wednesday of April.

It is now the third. By now, the second wave is usually released.

I personally felt it was too early on the other Wednesdays but I have a strange intuition/feeling that some of us will be getting news today. Will be pretty disappointed and will feel very betrayed by my feelings if they turn out wrong, lol.

But of course anything could happen! And it is more important that the admissions office take their time to admit a meaningful cohort. I’m hopeful, though.

What time of day do they usually release the decisions?

6:30 ET, but someone earlier said it can be as late as 11 ET.

so basically if you get a decision today you are rejected?

I feel like they have waited long enough that there should be some acceptances! Hopefully…

@RejectionMan my bad I mean 11 AM. That’s what’s happened in the past in later rounds though. Acceptances in the morning, rejections at night

helllooo

i applied last year and i can testify that the first wave is usually rejections…i only can say that because i got rejected first round. i remember because i remember thinking they give out decisions so fast

Good luck, everyone!! There’s still a few acceptances in the first wave and like we’ve mentioned, we don’t even know if it’ll be mainly rejections this time around because things are so different now, so keep optimistic!

@CHVRCHES it’s possible decisions come out in 45 minutes.

My heart is racing. I put together a damn good application–much better than my first-year one for last fall.

Northwestern is my top choice. Now I’m hoping I don’t here anything today!
