I received an email from Northwestern inviting me to interview for a spot in the HPME program. I'm not really sure why I received it so early... Anywho, I wanted to know if anyone could give me some information on the interview. This thread can also be used just to discuss the HPME program in general.

How formal is the interview? As in, how formally should one dress?

Is it similar to a college acceptance interview or perhaps more like a medical school acceptance interview? I would imagine there is a difference.

Is the interview conducted by more than one person? By an alumni or professor at Feinberg?

What are some real red-flags for the interviewers?

WOW, good for you! Can’t help you because you seem to be the first one contacted. I read that they begin to contact people in late January and February for the interview. I am wondering if there is anyone else get contacted for the HPME interview?

Wow, that’s awesome! I also applied to HPME and I got a regular decision interview request without a mention of HPME. Hopefully this doesn’t mean I wasn’t selected as a semifinalist or finalist or whatever it is. Good luck with your interview!

I am just curious. What portion of the interviewed applicants get accepted? I might be wrong but i think something like 150 get interview and like 60 get accepted?

^They used to accept about 60 people but based on the 2010 Feinberg class profile, they probably accept only 20 students now. When Feinberg got more and more selective in recent years, there was a push to shrink HPME.

My interview is very soon. It’s on February 1st. Since none of you can really help me out, I’ll be sure to answer my own questions on this thread once I have my interview. I hope the info will help! :)

If two people in this thread got interview requests, does that mean that if you haven’t received an e-mail yet you probably are not getting an interview? Not sure how this works, wondering if I’m already out of the running.
